Not saying this is the path for you, but you can get into music indirectly. Jan is doing business at some music company (purely based on her a cappella and business manager skills) and if I recall correctly, I think they said she could do some recording in her own time.

But at any rate, good luck with American Idol! I good luck with sorting stuff out. *hugs*
