You don't always have to "plant" a seed to make something grow. Trees can grow just from wind blowing and an acorn or whatever falling into the ground and eventually after rain and everything it sinks in deeper and eventually a tree will grow.

Whether someone physically puts the seed in the ground or not, when it is buried it is considered "planted."
