So lots has been going on in da Casa Wookie in the last couple of weeks...let's bring you up to date on my scintillating life

She continues to grow, and grow and then grow some more. She has fallen in love with the local swimming pool as we've been about 5 times in the past week. She squeals with joy anytime we get near the pool, which is funny but she cries the whole way home when we have to get out. Not quite as fun. She has mastered the art of sitting up so long as nothing too exciting is near her, cause if she gets excited she loses the body control and falls. We got her a mini piano which she bangs on like she's mad at. It's quite funny to see her bang on the keys and scream at the top of her lungs. We are going to be in for some fun times. Tonight I hope to take some pictures of her having one of her thrilling conversation with her stuffed Cat in the hat. The cat measures about 40" tall I think and she likes to sit up and talk to him, although she does get a little frustrated when he stops talking back to her. Her literary skills have emerged as well, as she likes to look at books as we read them to her. The funny part is she tries to "pick up" pictures from the book. Tonight Daddy and BabyWook have a planned outing to go to the pool until she is too tired to hold her head up anymore. Which hopefully will lead to long night's sleep for baby and daddy.

In other news, I purchased a dozen comptuer monitors at a police auction this weekend. I had planned on purchasing some CPU's as well but someone beat me out on the CPU's so I have only monitors. I have about 4 old CPU cases that I plan on turning into Computers for people's kids, nice starter PC's starting at $150 or so, monitor, speakers, modem not much else, something a 5 yr old could break and the parents could reinstall without to many worries.

The business Mrs. Wook and I have started has slowed down considerably and she actually has an interview for a full time job. She hasn't been able to land any new accounts in a while and got shot down on two accounts on Friday that she felt she had a good job of landing. We still have the trade show at the end of June and we did get a re interpretation of a sales tax law to include some people previously excluded for food consumption exemptions for resturant owners. Basically if you own a resturant and you provide meals to those employees then those meals are tax exempt. What we aren't sure is how the owners write them off and the key question is, are those sales included the taxable sales total the resturant reports on it's monthly sales tax returns. If so and if the majority of the resturants are doing it incorrectly then I will be quitting my job at the end of the summer.

I've locked this post down to friends only due to the fact that I don't want my newly elected cousin to get into trouble. My cousin was elected to the school board in the small South Texas town that the majority of my family is from. I called an aunt two weeks ago and this is the conversation that we had. The time was 3:30 3 1/2 hours before the polls were due to close.

Me: So how is it going for Dennis
Aunt: We just got off the phone with your uncle and he said he talked to his people at the polling locations, they said it's looking really good for Wook's Cousin
Me: Well that's good to hear
Aunt: Yeah, we are getting ready to go over and vote in a few minutes and then go to the victory party.
Me: Dont' you guys live in another city?
Aunt: Yeah well they asked us to register in our home town for the election so we did, we will register over here after the election is over.

fast forward to speaking to my cousin about 5 minutes later

Me: So how is it going?
Cousin: I just got the call, they've already started counting ballots and I'm up 1200 to 800, we are going to start celebrating, it's pretty much a done deal
In my head....aren't the polls still open for another 3 hours?
Me: Well congratulations cousin, hope you guys have a good night.

Later on that evening my dad tells me he talked to his brother and asked him how many times their father voted for my cousin. My uncle didn't comment. Said my grandpa would be proud. Dad figured grandpa voted probably twice, once early voting and then again on the day of the election.

Grandpa has been dead for 3 years so only voting twice can be excused.

Don't ya love small town politcs.

I also have lost 14lbs in 5 weeks on my new diet. It's kinda ground to a halt after losing 7 & 3 lbs the first two weeks, I've lost 1 lb each of the last 3 weeks. But at least I'm not gaining!
