Well.  It's been a busy time in my head these past few weeks.  There's just been a lot to think about, I guess, and there hasn't been much else going on, oh, and it's freezing here, so I've been kind of wrapped up in my own thoughts.  But it's not easy and it's not pleasant

Currently, the advice-center of my brain is useless.

I will tell you that, in some ways, you're not alone. I think, had I gotten my shit together, that I would have applied to graduate school this year, too. But, I'm not stuck in a foreign country... just Boston, which can sometimes seem like a foreign country what with my constant "WTF" reaction to so many things here.

However, there are a lot of us applying for next year... so many that I was thinking of starting a mailing list for all the ladies applying. If I do that, would you want to join?

From what you've invested in your school search so far (i.e., looking up faculty) it sounds like you would be really happy at graduate school. And if being where you are now isn't making you happy, why postpone what probably will? I guess that doesn't really answer whether you should stay another year or not (sorry) since you say that applying from over there isn't impossible, but all I'm saying is that you should apply ASAP, because if you wait, you'll probably regret it, and regret is not a fun feeling.
