Hello,
Thank you for acknowledgement of your receipt of my first letter.
A few other thoughts on the topic:
I mentioned the Green Party of Canada. It is statistically interesting to me that they earned a share of the popular vote approximately equal to the Bloc Quebecois … 10% - but while the BQ earned 50 seats, the Green got none. It strikes me that this coalition is being built with absolute respect for the will of the Canadian voters, as expressed through the popular vote. The BQ may be third among the parties in number of seats, but they are fourth when it comes to National popularity… obviously their support is based in one province only.
The coalition respects this by putting the parties in 2nd and 4th for number of seats in power. The power will be jointly-held, but led by the Liberal party. It has been hinted that the Green Party would have a voice at the table, and presumably they would be consulted on environmental issues.
Perhaps proportional representation reforms to our electoral system can be looked at in future years.
These are indeed interesting times, and it will be a very interesting government to watch. I believe this could be the beginning of a trend of Canadian coalitions, should it prove to be successful. Every indication is that these parties are ready, willing and able to work together for the good of their country and its citizens.
Coalition governments have many examples of success in Europe and elsewhere.
Steven Harper brought this on himself. He must be allowed to die a political death for the good of Canada.
I am a member of the New Democratic Party… and I stand with the 62% of Canadians who voted against the Conservative Party of Canada, hoping that you do the right thing in the next week … we expressed our will on Oct. 14. Please allow the experiment of a progressive coalition to proceed as soon as possible.
Mr. Harper cannot govern without the support of Parliament - and should not be allowed to continue to do so while another government is waiting in the wings. The Americans are waiting for their next President to take office at the end of January; but up here in Canada, the MPs of our new government have already been sworn in.
No one wants another election; we want our Parliament to get to work!
Thank you again for your time,

Subject: I support the Liberal-NDP Coalition
Ms Jean,
I respectfully request that you do not honour Mr. Harper’s request tomorrow morning to suspend parliament.
For Canada to be stuck in limbo for the next month or two would not be good for any of us, and the uncertainty could be detrimental to our economy.
You have been notified by all 3 opposition parties of their intention to work together and form a government.
I hope that you will allow them to proceed at the earliest possible opportunity.
62% of Canadian voters supported the 4 parties (including the Green party) which the coalition represents.
It would be exciting for all Canadians to see Members of Parliament working together for a change.
It has been too many years of constant bickering, with wheels spinning and very little getting accomplished.
I think that Canadians deserve an opportunity to see our tax dollars and time wasted no longer.
Please do not prolong the agony, just rip the band aid off… and allow the vote of non-confidence to proceed on Monday.
Thank you for your time,
~ Tyler Dobie
