Thanks.

For those reading this who aren't on my f-list, I should mention that I'm not providing this info as an attempt to dissuade people from donating to PP or to the Pine Ridge Res. I thought that the idea of putting a PP clinic on tribal lands in South Dakota was and is a good one. But Planned Parenthood, if they do decide to pursue this, will face challenges beyond what they normally would encounter when setting up a new clinic. They will have to make a careful evaluation of the legal issues before going ahead with any plans. I wish good luck to them and to the women of South Dakota.

Ms. Fire Thunder may have spoken hastily in saying she would build a Planned Parenthood clinic. But I think it's likely that there will be a low-cost women's reproductive health clinic on the res, where abortions are available. Whether it's a PP clinic or not is a separate question.

Agreed - it certainly doesn't have to be a Planned Parenthood clinic. Any clinic that offered a full range of options for women would be a good thing. Heck, better medical care for everyone on the res would be a good thing.
