August Challenge
so, today is August First, and along with the beginning of a new month we have a new challenge for you!
the August Challenge is:
Flashback Fever!
your mission, should you chose to accept it, is to chose your favorite line of dialogue or lyrics from a movie or song released in the year 1984 and create fiction or art based on it. only dialogue from something released in 1984 will count, but you have a LOT to chose from!
for you convenience, wikipedia has even compiled lists of movies and record albums released in 1984.

musical albums from 1984 (any song from any of these albums counts, but you can't declare the whole album, unless you're writing that many fics or making that many pieces of art.)
1. leave a comment to this entry, stating what pairing you'll be writing for (mind the banned pairings list!) and what movie or song you've chosen. you don't need to tell us which specific bit of dialogue/lyrics you've settled on, but knowing which piece of media you've chosen does matter.
1a. looking over wikipedia's song list, i noticed that it's very heavily weighted toward English-speaking groups. as long as you can link me some proof that your chosen song was, in fact, released in 1984 you don't need to feel like those are your only choices! non-English language music is just as valid as English language music! (if you do go with non-English music though, your English-speaking-only mod would really like a rough translation to be included with your fic. it's not required, but it would be nice.)
1b. looking over wikipedia's movie list, i noticed that there isn't much in the way of Asian cinema on there. now, i know that there were movies being made in Asia back then (i've seen a couple of them), so as long as you can link proof back that your chosen film was made in 1984 then those movies are perfectly valid too. even really bad martial arts flicks. ~_^
2. all art mediums will be accepted. fiction entries must be a minimum 500 words long and spell checked.
2a. after your first claimed piece is finished, you're more than welcome to come back and claim another if you're motivated to do so. more art/fic = better!
3. entries are due by 11:59 PM August 31, 2011. entrants will receive a nifty banner after the round up.
as usual, leave any questions, requests for clarifications or concerns in the comments. i haven't even been awake for an entire hour yet and probably missed something.
