How NOT to write a strong female character

Apr 06, 2014 09:42

I had skimmed this story and put it in my "possibly aft-worthy" pile a while ago, but when I sat down and actually read the thing, I knew I had to rip this thing apart. It's a textbook example Mary-Sue that everyone is fighting over and and a writer who uses abuse and sexual assault to give the Sue pity points (I don't usually use trigger warnings ( Read more... )

I am halfway tempted to ask the author if they realize how bad and misogynistic this is, but I'm not sure they'd know what 'misogynistic' means. 8|

Or at least ask if they could write dialogue like normal prose dialogue, seriously that script-style nonsense is driving me nuts.

(rolling in laughter at your comments/appalled/annoyed with the actual story itself)

"Like femmes are mythical creatures on par with unicorns."

Why can't they be both?

Wasn't sure it was possible to stuff so many Sue hot points in a single fic. Grats to the author...?

Okay, now this "character" is just. . .horrible.
Why do they keep mentioning green optics as weird!? It's not that weird.
Also, is it just me, or when I read the dialogue "women are illogical" I pictured Shockwave saying that for some reason.

Imagine a story where Autobots and Decepticons compare bad fanfiction [fake ones] together. I'd love to read that and not anymore "poor precious femme/mechs that get raped and abused for no real reason".

So it started in the Prime universe? It wasn't entirely clear...which is terrible. I never saw this come up in the Prime section of FF.net (I have a custom prime world all ratings search set up I check everyday since um...3 years ago?). I know crossovers don't always show up, but if it isn't going to tell us where it began, I could assume anything.

The universe jumping is really stupid too because I see A LOT of TFP fanfictioners (with stupid sues of course) think something along the lines of: "Oh, in Shadowzone, they were in another dimension! SO they can totally groundbridge to other dimensions!", when that was more of a dislocation/pocket-dimension/different frequency sort of thing ;P ( ... )

The only clue that she's from the Prime universe is her saying her Ratchet is orange and white. Prime Ratchet is the only one you can call orange, all the others are red ( ... )
