Shadow games
(( aka... summarizing events by means of sticking a spy in unseen crooks n crannies.. and now edited for accuracy. ))
*It had surprised Soundwave at first, when he noticed some of the Earth Autobots, and even Channel, also showing up in Maccadams. After overhearing more of the conversations, he realized by some bizarre chance that the bar also had an entrance to the Autobot Ark and, after spotting Skywarp and Skystream there, the Decepticon base too! He made note of this, as it would come in handy as another clever way to gain access to the Ark.
Channel still appeared distressed about her relations, and otherwise so distracted she didn't even notice that he was hiding toward the back there. Not that he wanted to make himself known in addition to the big ruckus going on.
She went out the entrance that went to Cybertron, which further piqued Soundwave's curiousity. That move made some sense, since she no longer felt at home at the Ark after what happened in the outpost. Again, leaving some distance, he followed her someways into Cybertron. Debated on revealing himself to her there, or if he should let her be for awhile.
The transmission signals he picked up from the Decepticon Citadel pulled at his attentions again too. For what reason was it being under attack? This settled it. He could relocate Channel later, since he assumed the femme didn't want to be bothered right now.
After entering the large structure, he transformed to owl mode and flew silently along the ceilings in the corridors to prime location. Along the way, he noticed the numbers of mechs down, and guessed the attackers must be trying to reach the inner sanctum where Vector Sigma was kept. The owl perched in a dark crook up high to observe the comings and goings there for awhile.
Apparently it was the femme band of Autobots leading this, with Optimus Prime accompanying them. He detected Optimus had made it to the inner chambers without a problem. And then, much to his surprise after her wish to no longer be associated with the Autobots, he saw what looked like a larger, more metallic version of Channel in her fox mode boldly trot from one corridor to another toward the inner chambers.
Not being able to find reason to this, he left his hidden perch to carefully follow her. She was indeed going to the chamber that Vector Sigma was. Soundwave stayed outside, again perching on some pipework to eavesdrop.*

*But then he was picking up on some erratic interference from outside. Something he vaguely recognized, and left him wanting to get out of there as soon as possible.*
