Are you for scuba?

I thought about something today. It was the first time I've actually thought about anything for a long, long time. And the subject of my thought was the dance we know today as the Spring Promenade, or "prom" to you neanderthals out there. Why, exactly, is prom such a big deal? Let's examine the facts ( Read more... )

Tim, I'm not gonna lie...I'm totally for scuba. Personally, I don't see what's so "special" about prom either. dress up. eat food. "dance". have sex....That's what we do every weekend, Tim. I don't get it.

Prom...from a female's perspective anonymous February 6 2004, 00:55:06 UTC
Why, Timothy, another job well done on the livejournal. I swear you're gonna be writing for collegehumor.com or the onion one day. haha. but anyways, back to my original point. prom, although an annoyance to those who do not cherish making quality high school memories, is a huge deal for us girls. well most of us anyways. yes, i must say that typical stereotype of 'hey dude, lets get drunk and get laid tonight' might run across the minds of those somewhat intellectually challenged boys who care about nothing except themselves, but there are the girls who view prom in a different light. and im talking about the light that you see in the movies. ya know, where you walk in to the dance and there you are--sparkling, gleaming for the whole world to see. well, Walton world that is. and yes, we do have to pay a hell of a lot to reach that light. the dress, the nails, the hair, etc that you had mentioned, but who is complaining? this is prom, the chance for the girls to be asked the nerve-wracking "will you go with me" instead of us having to ( ... )

prom sucks anonymous February 6 2004, 02:00:47 UTC
Tim, I have to agree with you on this prom issue. While most of what you said happened to me, there are a few changes that I would like to add. As an attendee of Pope's prom last spring, I only shelled out $40 at a nice restaurant, for the both of us. And they girls didn't drink the liquor, they spilled it on my tux, which I had to bring home with the stench of Bicardi still lingering in the air. Damn girls and their needy ways.
