Я вдогонку к обсуждению книжки Embers, хочу сказать что чувство долга - это не чувство

sense of duty, sense of fairness, empathy-
we are pre-programmed to have these. We survive as a community because of these. Chimps don't have it.
These important to us as species and we cooperate because of this "sense of duty".

empathy is build-in, but duty is mostly imposed by parents/society. and so it's also different for different groups and times.
it does keep us as a community together, but often makes us sacrifice the personal freedom. that's why the general is so boring, slow and stupid, he is not alive, he is stuck inside the world of duty.
I don't like Petreus because he is a general and I don't like military, especially people who made carrier there. so even that human act of cheating didn't make him more appealing to me:-)

вот! вот именно! я просто очень не люблю когда любовь превращается в чувство долга:-)
камю может перевели как-то не так? я конечно максималистка, но мне кажется любовь и чувство долга, это из разных опер.
