Mad Men Aug 1

I gave last week's episode a pass but this week's was more of the same. Dull. I had thought the Beatles on Ed Sullivan might have pushed the narrative forward but no, they are not mentioned. Actually, Don did mention the Beatles when he asked his secretary to buy his daughter Beatles records for Christmas.

I can't say I'm bored. I liked the episode. Joanie took command of the party arrangments and Peggy seems more sure of herself. Don is a mess but then, I am waiting for him to pull himself together. Or not.

And it's a relief after the over the top gross out gore and angst of True Blood which I'm thinking of abandoning.

Yeah you're right he did "mention" the Beatles; I just thought they'd be more a part of what's going on. I didn't really like "Mad Men" that much last year and hoped the return to the workplace would give it a shot in the arm. But it's still boring.

As to "True Blood" I watched the first season and found it, for want of a better word, icky. I never returned. Too much blood.
