Thirst

I hope somebody will talk about last night's NCIS episode with me. It certainly paid tribute to David's continued good looks and he got a lot of screen time. However, I was disappointed with the plot and don't really understand why Ducky can't have a normal girlfriend. Someone like Ducky is much more likely to be married really. And a man his ( Read more... )

It's not that HE can't have a nice normal relationship - none of them can. I call it the Curse of NCIS. Can't wait to see how they are going to muck up Jimmy's wedding.

Shew as wacko beofre they met - it was more of a comment on Internet dating than anything else. She was having Daddy issues long before Ducky came along. She was just so deperate to keep him that she was willing to kill for him. As for killing, as much as I love my husband, I wouldn't kill for just to keep him amused... that's what video games is for...

I was sorely disappointed myself. For some reason, from the publicity, I thought it would be an ongoing thing ---maybe an arc over a couple of episodes.

It was nice to see ducky in a relationship and the blue eyes comment was obviously aimed at the fans.

But you know what? I had this odd sneaky thought today: that the whole thing was an inside joke too. Ladd's character was like a crazed fan girl. Think about it. She was a caricature and the climax was unconvincing ---like a bad slasher movie. So, I wonder if she was meant as a sort of bad joke.

And as others have pointed out, everyone on NCIS has Daddy issues.

Oh, I agree with you entirely. It paid homage to his crazed fan girls in a sense and acknowledged his looks. Even inserting the pix of Katherine at the end sorta tweaked this: sorry girls he's married. But the plot, even by NCIS standards, was stupid. We are to believe that after only two lunch dates with Ducky a do-gooder, great looking social worker is going to become a murderer. Maybe if she murdered her rivals but she murders only to provide Ducky with entertainment. How is that going to make him stick around? It seems to me if he had become bored at work he'd be more likely to need her not less. The writing in the scene after she slashed her wrists, when Ducky talked about what we might do for love, was actually quite good. I know the writers are capable of more. The whole plot of this ep was absurd.

OK I saw it, while I love Ducky, bad, bad episode--the script stank. And the two actors had zero chemistry imo. They should just let Ducky date Penelope in the background for the rest of the season. She made a lot more sense as someone he'd be interested in.

So this woman, after having two lunches with Ducky , decides to go out and start killing people because at one of them he says he's seen it all? How does that make sense? How does that keep him interested in her? How come Ducky is talking about an ongoing case with her at dinner anyway? Isn't that a no no?

Her father issues were just tossed in, there was NO motivation in sight anywhere.

Anyway there's no point in dissecting the plot because what plot? I didn't like them using Katherine's photo at the end either, what was the point of that except as a wink, wink joke?

To be honest, I don't watch the show that often, the only characters I really like are Ducky and Abby and they've usually only got them doing schtick in the background these days.

I like NCIS and the weird thing about it is I like to watch reruns of eps I've seen better than the first run stuff. THAT, I know, makes absolutely no sense but it's how I feel.

I thought Cheryl Ladd and David were fine together though I think Ducky might fall in love with a quirkier type of woman. (Or rather, I wish she were Lily Tomlin instead). Her motivation for killing made absolutely no sense whatsoever. None. For Ducky to beat himself up for his lapse in judgement--how the hell would anyone pick up on such a ridiculous & unlikely turn of events?--if she turned out to be a vampire or a zombie it would have been just as believable. As to Katherine's pix at the conclusion, I do not like in-jokes and it just surprised me. I have to say I think this was the most lame-brained ep of NCIS I've ever seen.

Yeah, they should match him with Lily Tomlin. That makes more sense, both age and character-wise.

And Ladd's face looked plastic ---she's had a lot of work. Even my husband said so and he used to have a thing for her.

Maybe because you've already been irritated by the stupid once, you don't have to bother to be irritated again :)

I do not like in-jokes

I don't either. Especially in a show that is presenting itself as a straightforward drama. It just pulls you out of the drama and hits you in the head with the artificiality of the whole construct. A lot of people seem to think it's cute. But I don't like that mixing of worlds in fanfic either. I don't like the conflation of NCIS and MFU, Illya turning into Ducky--all of a sudden you just have a bunch of plastic TV figures alive in neither world.

I'm complaining a lot--it was a very disappointing program!
