So.... none of you exist.... That's okay; I don't exist to you either. The only thing that you can know is that you exist, but only to yourself. The rest of it could very well be your imagination; your mind finding substance to an idea that is purely formulated in your brain. Well your brain could be a part of your imagination as well, so I ( Read more... )

Truth be told, there have been times I haven't even been sure that I exist...or rather, that my perception of myself as a singular cohesive entity was a facade, masking the fact that I was nothing more than a rather oddly-behaving bundle of electrons. It was...unsettling. (Then again, lost_adonis might simply think that I was brushing up against Nirvana, and shying away at the last minute).

You should watch "I <3 Huckabees" It's a movie that attempts to bridge the gap between two extremes in philosophy the "I'm just a bunch of electrons that move as one entity by the mere happenstance, therefore there is no meaning." and "fate exists and we're all interconnected." Basically the end philosophy is, electrons come together and act as one, they're interconnected to each other, but the lines of ourselves are NOT finite, they're blurred (I give away electrons to my surrounding area). Everyone acting together as separate entities causes interactions with their electrons, in a sense, affects their fate. Thus we have meaning in that we're always affecting the interconnected of other people (and they're affecting us), basically fate by happenstance of our actions as a whole.

What about the meat of our atoms, the protons and neutrons? Electrons are teeny-tiny compared to the neucleus particles. We're not just electrons, we're quarks and leptons forming electrons, protons and neutrons forming atoms forming molecules and so forth forming a cohesive whole that uses heat, chemical and electrochemical processes to marshal our combined selves around the larger place that we call the universe. So why the focus on electrons? ;)

You know, every morning I wake up and wonder whether this is reality or if I'm dreaming now and the OTHER world was real...
