two summers ago, I learned how to be optimistic. A lot. I was staying at college over the summer, doing lab work for 6 hours/day and hanging out with almost no one except 2 close friends, one of whom was hellbent on seeing everything positively. He found reasons for everything to seem cool, or adventurous or awesome. And he was so enthusiastic about all of these things. I started doing it too, and though I still get pissed at stuff or myself, I've found a lot more ways to be laugh and smile about it in the past 2 years.
Thank you. See, in reading that, I realized that I tried everything BUT that. Forcing optimism. Like.. when you're having a shitty day, smiling even if you don't want to often helps you feel better. I've tried that.... just not so far as to seek the positive in terrible situations. Thank you for the response. I really needed that... see, that's why I'm glad we're still friends. You know me well enough to be able to help, and I love that about you.
