When life gives you tea, the answer is teabagging.

Tom signed the sheet of paper in front of him and turned to his twin, a pen ready in his hand. Bill’s eyes were firmly focused on the wooden surface of the desk in front of them and for Tom, it was obvious that his twin’s mind was fully focused on what were they going to do.

Tom nudged his twin, briefly touching his forearm and Bill’s head snapped up, his eyes searching almost scared for his twin. Tom’s lips turned down into a small, sad smile before his hand moved back to the sheet of paper, pushing it in front of his twin.

Bill sighed before tightening his lips in a firm line and signing the paper, scrawling his pointy signature near his brother’s.

It didn’t look at all like their regular swirly signatures they had mastered from years of signing sessions, those were their real signatures, those they would use to pay the bills, sign a contract or…

Or for selling their house.

“That’s it,” a blonde woman seated behind the desk exclaimed, checking the contracts to ensure nothing was missing. A smile spread on her face and she looked at the twins. “Your house is now sold, and as it was previously decided you have to leave it by the end of the month.”

Tom nodded and stood up, leaning over to shake the woman’s hand. When he turned to his brother, Bill was still in his seat, his hands crossed in his lap, and his head bowed down.

“Bill?” Tom called him slowly and his twin shook his head, taking a deep breath and standing up with his head high.

“Thank you,” he said with a smile he had learnt to put on his face as a natural reflex.

“It was a pleasure working with you,” the woman replied, and the twins quickly said their goodbyes, leaving her office and the building.

As they walked through the parking lot, Tom glanced sideways at Bill; his twin was slowly moving by his side, his arms wound around him as if he was cold, although the sun in the sky had made the autumn days pleasantly warm.

“You okay?” Tom asked, worried, unlocking his Audi and walking to the driver’s side. He opened the door but waited to get inside, his eyes glued to Bill’s in front of him.

Bill’s teeth let go of his lower lip, letting another sigh escape.

“Of course,” he said, looking briefly at his twin. “It’s what had to be done. For the best,” he added and opened the door, climbing inside and hiding from his brother’s stare.

Tom bit the inside of his cheek thoughtfully, his fingers drumming on the roof of the car before he bent down and joined his brother inside the vehicle.

He wasn’t sure if they really had to do this, but he was damn sure that it wasn’t making Bill feel the best.

Tom put away the cardboard box of the pizza they had for dinner and looked around the house for his twin.

“Bill?” he asked, walking in the empty living room, finding him in front of the glass door, staring with empty eyes at the backyard. The lights in the room were off and it was also dark outside, but Tom knew Bill wouldn’t be able to see what he was looking for even under the brightest of lights.

“I miss them,” Bill said without looking at Tom, and wrapped his arms around himself.

Tom sighed and walked to him, stepping up to his side and putting a warm hand on Bill’s shoulder.

“Mom took them away just a couple of hours ago, we’ll see them again tomorrow,” Tom explained, although Bill already knew everything. Simone and Gordon had come earlier to pick up all of their dogs and take them to their home, along with Bill’s car. The twins would spend their last night in the empty house and the morning after they would go to their parents with Tom’s R8 and the last personal things they had left in the house.

Bill nodded and took a step back, walking away from his twin and towards the stairs.

“I’m going to have a shower,” he announced in low voice, slowly taking the first steps. “You want to play cards later? It’s not like we have many other things to do,” he asked, stopping in the middle of the stairs.

Tom looked around the empty living room; they hadn’t bothered to buy a new television after the break-in and the furniture had already been taken away a couple of days ago. The only things left in the house were a pair of chairs in the kitchen and the bed, but it would all be taken away when the twins left as well.

“Sure, you want me to check if there is some tea left in the cupboard?” Tom suggested. As much as Bill loved the taste of coffee, both twins enjoyed a cup of tea as well, especially in the late hours of the night.

Bill looked at him and Tom saw the corner of his lips turning up for the first time in days. “That would be nice.”

Tom walked back into the kitchen, filling the teapot with water and putting it on the stove. He turned on the gas, lowering the flame a bit - if Bill was going to shower, Tom would have all the time in the world to allow the water to reach the boiling point slowly. He grabbed two mugs before looking through the cupboards again; he was positive there had to be a pack of tea somewhere there.

His eyes landed on a black wooden box and he exclaimed in victory. It was a box with tea; tea they had received from someone from Universal during their last trip to Asia.

Tom opened the box eagerly, his fingers rummaging through the various teabags. There were of lot of colors and Tom soon realized each of them had a certain purpose. He turned a black teabag with red swirls and snorted when his eyes read the word Spicy Nights on the back. That was not the time for that kind of tea.

He grabbed a pink teabag with lavender swirls and checked the box for another of the same color. He might have taken the whole moving thing better than his twin, but this didn’t mean he wouldn’t go for a round of ‘Warm Cuddles’.

The sound of the shower turning off reached him in the empty house and Tom quickened his pace, quickly fixing the tea and five minutes later he was walking into Bill’s room, two mugs of tea in his hands.

“Hey,” he said to his twin, putting the two mugs down and climbing on the bed where Bill was already shuffle the cards. “What are we playing?”

“War,” Bill said, dealing the cards in two decks. “I’m not really in the mood for a strategy game.”

“Suits me,” Tom shrugged, offering one of the mugs to his twin who accepted it gladly before taking a sip.

“It’s sweet,” he noticed with a small grimace.

“It’s just how it’s made,” Tom explained. “I didn’t add any sugar,” he said, taking a gulp from his own mug and grabbing his cards in his hand. “It’s good though,” he noticed, smacking his lips.

Bill nodded and picked the first card and turning it, grinning when he saw his nine was higher than Tom’s eight.

Half an hour later, both mugs were empty and Bill’s deck was twice the size of Tom’s.

“You should just give up,” Bill suggested, taking another card from his twin.

“No way, I have two aces and three kings,” Tom objected amused and stretched his back.

“You’re so going to lose it,” Bill grinned, wiggling on his spot but pouting when Tom snatched his Queen with a King.

Tom smiled but he dropped all of his cards, lying back on the bed. “I give up,” he announced, moving the blanket under him and slipping underneath it, his bare feet warming up immediately.

“Fucker,” Bill said, throwing a card at Tom’s chest. “You let me win.”

Tom shrugged. “I was just cold,” he reasoned, taking the card from his chest and moving it to the nightstand.

Bill gathered all of the cards, crawling to Tom and leaning over his twin to put them on the nightstand as well.

“You’re okay?” Tom asked, stroking Bill’s side with a hand.

Bill looked down from above him, his make-up less face showing Tom all of his feelings.

“I’m better,” he admitted, lowering his body and alligning himself with his twin.

Tom shifted under him, moving slightly to avoid their narrow angles poking each other and stroking Bill’s bare arms with his hands.

“You’re cold,” he noticed. “You should get under here.”

“Mmm,” Bill nuzzled his nose against Tom’s neck. “You’ll stay here?”

Tom grabbed the blanket, pulling it free from the grasp of their bodies and with Bill’s help, he managed to cover his twin as well.

“I don’t really know why you asked it,” he said with a half snort.

It wouldn’t be the first time for them to share the bed for comfort and it would be a lie to say that neither of them had anything against it.

Bill’s arm sneaked out from under the blanket, turning off the light and embracing the room in pitch blackness.

“Tomi?” Bill’s voice came, muffled from under Tom’s chin and Tom lifted his arm, snatching Bill’s head at the nape.

“What?”

“Are we going to be okay?”

Tom’s hand moved down to reach Bill’s waist, grasping it and making his twin roll off him and switch their positions until Tom was on top of Bill.

“We always are when we’re together,” Tom replied simply, his fingers searching for Bill’s cheek and stroking it slowly. Tom dipped his head, making their lips brush in a familiar gesture of trust. They would need reassurance; it wasn’t something uncommon for them. They had done the same thing when their parents divorced; it was when they started. They had repeated the same gesture three more times throughout their lives, each time when in need of reassurance and comfort.

Bill’s lips pursed against his, making the touch firmer. They stayed like this for some seconds, their eyes closed, breathing through their noses until Tom had to move back.

“Your breath tickles me,” he said, stroking Bill’s hair before rolling onto his side, his leg still bent above Bill’s.

He heard Bill sigh and his twin turned onto his side, facing him and hooking his leg between Tom’s.

Their noses brushed and they smiled at each other, their eyes finally adjusting to the dark.

Tom readjusted the blanket around them, his arm stretched above Bill’s shoulders and their chests pressed together after Bill shifted.

“Can we do that again?” Bill asked then.

Tom blinked in the dark, confused. “Play War?”

“Kiss me.”

Tom’s eyebrows arched up in surprise as Bill’s hand grasped his shirt.

Bill pressed their lips together again and Tom’s eyelids closed, his hand moving from Bill’s shoulders to the lower of his back, pressing their bodies together.

Bill’s lips parted and captured Tom’s lower lip, sucking it lightly and shivers running through Tom’s body when he felt Bill’s tongue licking it.

“Bill,” Tom gasped, backing away his head, his heart was beating furiously, yet a feeling of calmness was spreading through him and he had to wonder if it was for Bill’s proximity or for the tea.

“I’m sorry,” Bill babbled, trying to free himself from Tom’s grasp but Tom was keeping him in place.

“No,” Tom rasped. “It’s okay,” he whispered as Bill hid his face between Tom’s shoulder and the pillow. “It is, trust me,” he repeated, caressing Bill’s back.

“Really?” Bill asked, and Tom felt his twin’s warm lips being pressed against his neck.

“I liked it,” Tom admitted, lowering his head and stroking Bill’s cheek with his own lips. “Maybe it’s the tea talking, but it felt good,” he whispered, suddenly feeling sleepy as his eyelids started dropping.

Bill yawned, pressing himself against his brother and nuzzling his face against Tom’s chest. “What if it’s not just the tea?”

Tom breathed deeply, taking in Bill’s clean scent and closing his eyes.

“I wouldn’t really care.”
