Yeah, long time no post. Bah! :)
Work is going ok, just coming to the end of a pretty dull month. I've been roped into doing some development work, despite the fact that I'm not a developer! Still, it needed doing and I'm glad it's over. The stuff we put together probably won't ever get used in the form it's in - it's a magical tool to build a new Specsavers store server from bare metal up to the latest deployment with a bundle of go-live data pre-populated in it's database. There's looooads of good reasons for this process to be in place, but the sad thing is that the people that should use it probably never will because they're stupid. Nevermiiiind :D
I have had the opportunity to work on a little webapp I've been playing with for a while though. It's a nifty little rails app to parse and present a bunch of information for dopey management-types so they can be sure that teams are doing 'the right thing' and actually using the technical practices we expect them to be. At the minute, it presents the current build status for all our CruiseControl instances, as well being a repository for automated regression test reports. Because it's mine though, I get to web2.0 candystripe it up and put stuff in just for me, like a 'mini cruise monitor':
I'm probably the only person that will even care it's there, but it's really handy to keep an eye on everyone's build all at once. This screenshot represents the first time all week that it's been all green - there's been some really stupid mistakes causing crappy builds lately. Sloppy contractors! :D
The weather has been in equal parts good and bad here lately - the puddles were so large in Eastleigh last night that they had tides, ffs.
GTA4 continues to be great fun, despite having not played the multiplayer game yet. I want to rob banks with people!
My Dren Warrior is now lv42, slowly plugging my way towards 70. Really enjoying the game! WoW has a lot going for it, despite what a lot of people say. I'm really happy that Blizzard made it easier for casual folks to play through, it's very cool to be able to sit down and manage a few levels in a sitting. Heading/reading a lot about WAR at the moment. I'll really want to play it if they add in Skaven as a playable race in a subsequent expansion!
