I just ate an Oreo. Mmmmm.
Ever get that horrible feeling where you're lying in bed, and just can't turn your brain off? I'm usually knackered by the time I'm in bed and get to sleep in seconds flat - but last night I just couldn't disengage my brain-cogs. They were spinning like tops in my head! I have no idea when I eventually dozed off, but I

If I had to pick one man living in the world right now to marry (and obviously as part of this deal he also wants to marry me) it would be Bruce Parry. And if I could pick one place to live it would be Peru, which is partly Amazonian. And this show is Bruce Parry AND the Amazon. ARGH! And our tv doesn't have signal in our house and I don't understand torrents. This is a sad day but also happy because you have gone up yet higher in my estimation for watching it! Was it full of awesome? Did you watch Tribe?
Had a lot of brain-overtime lately, seem to be averaging 5 hours sleep a night which just isn't enough really, but there are so many REALLY EXCITING things in life at the moment. Plus it's not like you choose to think stuff, it just sort of falls into your consciousness right? Dream sounds awesome though!

It was a good show - different feel to Tribe as it wasn't as focussed by far. It was like 2-3 mini episodes of Tribe crammed into one. We've got all 3 series on DVD and have avidly watched them all! I enjoyed the African tribes no end, especially the Suri and Nyangatom (the guys who are at war with the Suri and are called 'Bume' or 'Smelly ones' by them) episodes as they really were two sides of the same coin. Dead interesting.
The dream was pretty cool, and partially made up for the tiredness I'm stuck with now. Back when I used to roleplay 6-7 nights a week, I used to dream loads - my own little spaceoperas/dungeoncrawls/adventures in my brain. Age has dulled my inner accidental creativity!

Don't do yourself down - I think Bruce's appeal lies in his interest in other people! How is that not a really attractive attribute? Someone having so much time and interest to learn about the world outside themselves denotes a very self-assured and open-hearted personality, attractive qualities indeed! And since our recent net exchanges have indicated a similar warmth and enthusiasm in yourself I can believe Heather finds parallels ^^
Those were my favourite episodes of Tribe too! But I always forget the name of the Nyangatom and just think of them as Bume and then feel bad. It was really interesting getting the different sides but they were also among the more charismatic people, at least how he presented it. I also found it really interesting how they ate, it was a really interesting contrast with western culture and priorities, a good contextualiser.
What kind of roleplay did you do?

It's hard not to love all the tribes in that series. They're all so deeply happy and honoured to have someone come to see how they live rather than just point out how they're so stuck in their ways and western life is *obviously* better. Let's all just go live with the Anutans, shall we?
Did you watch that Tribal wives show?
I was an incredibly active roleplayer from the age of 12 until about 4 years ago when I moved away from home. I was part of several groups, both playing and GM-ing. Played loooads of different stuff, but for the most part it was AD&D 2nd edition (3rd edition later on, but nowhere near as much), Call of Cthulhu, World of Darkness stuff (Vampire/Werewolf/etc 1st-2nd ed), Rifts (I literally had more sourcebooks than I knew what to do with, often a point of teasing), Palladium Fantasy, BESM, Over the Edge, Marvel Superheroes (both oldschool FASERIP flavour and newerschool storyteller/card based flavour), and a few more I'm struggling to remember. Oh, bit of Rolemaster ( ... )
