Comcast sucks. They have "noise" problems in their lines; so bad as the signal-to-noise ratio is poor. This means you can connect to the internet, but you will have an unstable one. Thus I d/c every 5-10min playing FFXI. Tonight the problem was "mostly fixed" according to the Comcast rep. It should all be working properly by weeks end ( Read more... )

I have comcast cable too, and I have had all kinds of issues with them myself. I am not having any line signal strength issues or interuptions though. I actually have full signal when my service decides to die out at times.

I'm actually having a frustrating problem where they are routing me through a New York peering point to get to almost anywhere and it will suddenly start taking insane amounts of packet loss for a short period of time causing me to R0 out.

The really frustrating part for me is that I engineer IP networks for a living and am pretty confident the majority of the comcast tier 2 techs that I have spoken with have very little understanding of how their network topology really is.

I got the opposite response today. It was "fixed", and the guy I talked too told me exactly what the problem was, and how they fixed it. He basically told me what you said, though not directly; lots of people there don't know what the fuck is going on.

My reward, a $20 credit for the tech being late, and a free month of internet
