I was very annoyed about something I came across the other day. At my job, I was submitting a supplier application for my company at a major cosmetic line's website. They have various kinds of minority/women-owned preference programs, and they ask you submit proof of your certification of that status, etc. Pretty normal stuff. However...on the list ( Read more... )

Hey, I was just thinking about you the other day and wondering when you'd pop in and say hi. Good to see you here.

I haven't stopped reading, but I haven't been in the mood to post lately. However, it's been a hard week, and I find myself wanting to reach out to other people a little more. I don't always react that way, but at the moment, I am.

I graduated last December with a degree in Legal Studies. I'd attended there from 1995-99 and taken some time off due to bad health, both mental and physical, and I really enjoyed going back and finishing where I started. It's a good school, and while I don't think I got as much out of it as I could have when I attended there some years back, I made the most of my experience there my last two part-time semesters.

I really like the setup of the Claremont Colleges, even if it is elitist as all heck. I knew that when I chose to go there, and what I was looking for was a really intellectually rich undergraduate experience, and I do think I got that, or at least the opportunity for that. It didn't help that I was suicidally depressed and physically ill for the majority of my collegiate experience, so I can't fault them for that...

Legal studies? I thought that college did ocean stuff.

Aw, cause then I'd ask you about oceanography and just what oceanographers do...

There's a Scripps Oceanography Insitute that's entirely different from Scripps College, in Claremont.

nice to see you back here. :) congrats on graduating. I'm in Hollywood - which is just over the hill from you and has far better food choices than what Claremont has to offer (though I'll always miss the old Nick's Cafe, before that asian guy bought it and changed the name to something ridiculous). Lemme know what you're looking for and I can point you in the right direction.
