So looking over my Battlemechs, I'm noticing that I really fit more as a member of Clan Nova Cat rather than Clan Wolf in my old age.

That is, I prefer to load up on energy weapons instead of high-yield ballistics, primarily because I Don't Like Ammo Explosions. Granted the heat management is an issue, but I've learned to deal with it.

I Don't Like Ammo Explosions

Word. I've taken to asking if I can start with a Mad Cat's machine guns unloaded- it just isn't worth the risk.

Machine guns are a death sentence waiting to happen. Double so if you're kickin' it 3025 style and CASE doesn't exist.

And even if it does, CASE + XL engines might as well be a death sentence.

If possible, and it often is on many smaller mechs, you could use an empty arm as an ammo dump.

Out of gameplay it's logically kind of dumb, feeding ammo from arm to torso, and in game it can still cost you your ammo, but it allows you to use those cool projectile weapons pretty well.
