Deathly Hallows - Chapters 4-8

Reactions behind the cut.
I've decided to read slowly. After all, this is the last Harry Potter book.

Chapter 4: The Seven Potters
Wow, Remus and Tonks really got married. (Am not fervently opposed to this pairing, but just don't get it.)

Totally forgot that Kingsley is black. This makes it even more remarkable that the Dursleys want to be protected by him; I always thought they were prejudiced not only against wizards, but against anyone not belonging to the white British middle class either.
Am pleased that Rowlings does not play into this stereotype.

The Order knows that Pius Thicknesse is under the control of Voldemort. Good counter-intelligence!

I always thought that Polyjuice Potion offered the intriguing possibilities. I like how it's used here. It also puts Harry into some serious conflict; it's not easy to accept that he's so important that other people will willingy risk their lives for him.
Oh, and Polyjuice Potion a la Harry has a bright gold colour. :-)

Why the heck does Moody shout: "See you all in about an hour at The Burrow." Is there no danger he might be overheard???

I love symmetry in story-telling. Therefore I love the fact that Harry leaves Privet Drive on Sirius' motorbike with Hagrid.

Sirius' motorbike is the pendant to James Bond's cars with all its gadgets. :-)

Hedwig!! :-(

Why is Harry so surprised that he is recognized after using magic? I thought it said underage magic can be traced. All the fake Potters are already older than 17.

Voldemort on a broom = "Snake on a Broom". :-)

Chapter 5: The Fallen Warrior
Nice to meet Ted and Andromeda Tonks. I like it that Andromeda looks so much like Bellatrix.
But what kind of nickname is Dromeda. (It's sounds way too much like "Dromedar", the German word for "dromedary". Which results in my picturing Andromeda a bit like a camel, but with only one hump on her back. :-))

Great tension when Harry and the remaining Weasley's are waiting for everyone to return.

George losing an ear: I'm not a fan of the twins, but I admire how George deals with what happens.
Poor Mrs Weasley. Two sons are scarred now. And with so many Weasley's there's a huge chance that one or two will die. My bet is on one of the twins since it's the most tragic death; wasn't sure which one it would be, though. But now that George is already maimed, I guess Fred will die.

Snape "sectumsempra'ed" George's ear! And told the real plan of Harry's departure to the Dark Lord. -- Nevermind, I still believe he works for Dumbledore. If Voldemort is to trust him, he needs to bring him correct information and hurt people once in a while. Since Snape is so good with Sectumsempra, he could also have killed George had he wanted to.

Who betrayed the Order's plans to Snape?

Moody! :-(

Hm, so the deatheaters recognized Harry, because he used Expelliarmus and not because of Underage Magic? Not convinced...
I do like it, however, that this gives us a talk about what's morally acceptable in a war. I love Harry for refusing to kill, though I understand Lupin's point of view as well. Nice conflict between these two; Harry really loses one father figure after another and has to learn to find his own values.

Harry's wand performing magic by itself and the connection between two wands. Very intriguing.

Personally, I think everyone meeting at The Burrow where so many people live isn't the greatest plan. It's too risky if it goes wrong. But I understand that Rowlings wanted some scenes to play there; it's tradition after all ever since book 2.

Chapter 6: The Ghoul in Pyjamas
Mrs Weasley is so scared of losing Ron, Harry or Hermione that she tries to keep them apart. I understand her fears, but these three still need to make their own decisions.

Hm, Moody might be alive after all.

Ron comforting Hermione. :-) (I've seen and liked this pairing since very early on.)

Wow, Hermione manages to be extremely selfless, extremely ruthless and extremely powerfu at the same time by putting memory charms on her parents!!!

Hermione acquiring books about Horcruxes. Love the plan and have never seen it in fanfiction. So simple and get inspired. :-)

Interesting new information about Horcruxes. (Remorse can put your soul together again; "You're in trouble if you get to fond or dependent on the Horcrux.")

Chapter 7: The Will Of Albus Dumbledore
Should I remember who Gregorovitch is? Maybe someone connected to Durmstrang?

"..., said Hermione as she pored indecisively over Break with a Banshee."
I'm pretty sure that this is one of Lockheart's books. The alliterative title in connection with the naming a dangerous species fits the bill. It makes me smile to think that Hermione still has one of Lockheart's books and isn't sure if to take it or not.

Twelve Fail-Safe Ways to Charm Witches. :-)
Love the quote: "it's not all about wandwork, either." :-)

Ginny's present gets interrupted...

Dumbledore's presents to Ron, Hermione and Harry.
Perhaps "The Tales of Beedle the Bard" offer more information on how to use the Deluminator and the Snitch.
I totally love it that the fairytales told in the Wizarding World are not the same as the ones told in the Muggle World.

Chapter 8: The Wedding
Harry as "Cousin Barny". :-)

"..., Harry saw Lupin's face fall again into lines of misery." -- Hm, what's the matter with him? It's unlikely in Rowlings universe that he is depressed, because he regrets marrying Tonks. Although he might angst about it. Not sure, but then I don't get Tonks and Lupin, even though I like them each on their own.

The Lovegoods are brilliant! Brilliant!!
"Gernumbli gardensis" had me laughing out loud.
Also: "Gnome saliva is enourmously beneficial!"
And Luna recognising Harry despite his disguise. And then dancing by herself later on!
Yes, I'm a big fan of Luna. :-)

Ron, Krum and Hermione.
My favorite bit is Ron's "Come and dance." Short and to the point. No need to be charming. :-)

Oh, more infos:
The symbol Mr Lovegood wears is Grindelwald's sign.
Gregorovitch is a wandmaker. (And yeah, there was a connection to Durmstrang.)

Love Rowlings sense of humour:
"Vot is the point of being an international Quidditch player if all the good-looking girls are taken?"

Elphias Doge is introduced.

Aunt Muriel appears to be the wizard counterpart of aunt Marge.

Secrets about Ariana Dumbledore.
Very interesting that the Dumbledores lived at Godrics Hollow.

Scrimgeour is dead.
