Warning: Rambly account of dorm flood behind cut.
Okay, so I was getting ready to go to my biochem lecture today when what should be going on outside our door?
A flood. A pipe broke at the end of the (short) hall our suite is on and there was a very fast spreading puddle heading toward our door.
So the repair guy was sitting in front of this violently spraying leak trying to stop the water with his body. He ended up soaked from head to toe. We kept wondering why they didn't just turn off the water, because damn.
Another one of the guys trying to fix this tells us that we need to get all our electronics and non-waterproof belongings up off the floor, because, yeah, water coming our way. So we rush around frantically putting computer components on tables and shoes on shelves and whatnot, and once that's done, we think, 'hey, let's see if we have any water yet.' So, we looked and what should we find but an enormous puddle in the bathroom on my end of the suite. Lovely. They did git the water to stop spraying around this time, though.
Now I have a gap in my information, because I had to leave for an hour or so. When I came back, the RD and a new crew were there doing the cleanup work and contacting the residents of the much more badly damaged suites across the hall. I don't think anyone was home in either of those suites and they apparently sustained "significant water damage."
Now we have a large, very noisy fan right outside my bedroom door that is going to be running until sometime between 1 and 5pm tomorrow. Hopefully, I can sleep with it running.
Other than that, it's been a decent day.
