Badly needed update.

My (financial) life changed dramatically about a month ago, and though for the obvious, immediate worst, it's for the foreseeable, long-term best. I got fired from the Auction. The sad part - or great part, depending on your stand point - is that it was for doing the right thing. Mega-bitch Ellen (immediate supervisor) came to her proverbial throne ( Read more... )

It sucks to see people lose employment because they won't be mistreated. I see it all the time. I'm so glad to be a P&G, for that and many other reasons. P&G is a big boat to rock, so HR gets involved quickly when there's a complaint. Seldom do issues of mistreatment last very long. I had one manager that mistreated me, and everyone else. HR bullied her into retiring early.

The thing you will see a lot at P&G is dissatisfaction because people feel they are moving up too slowly. There is a very broad base at the bottom levels, and the structure quickly narrows at a certain spot. The most frustrated are those right at that bottleneck.

Anyway....hang in there. Jobs are jobs, careers are careers, but when it comes to your happiness, even a good career is still just a job. Never sell out, it isn't worth it.

Love you!

happened to Rob, except his boss was so pissed at him that she successfully blocked his unemployment by claiming he lied on his resume. even though Rob could prove he had nothing on his resume that was false, he still was denied unemployment through 3 separate appeals....be careful who you piss off...we nearly lost our house. But, go on an do right, no one can fault you for that (except big business). Love you!

Well, the beautiful part is that they didn't even FIGHT my unemployment claims - infact, they never replied to DUA, so they have to make an appeal if they choose to act on it. I got it without even having to go through a mediator.

You'd be surprised how not legally protected you are from abusive bosses. I respect that you won't be treated like that, but have to warn you on the legal side of it. Bosses can be huge dicks with no recourse unless there is a specific law prohibiting the subject of their dickness. This is why it's important to support ENDA.

I'm pretty sure that verbal harassment is illegal; also, if I recall, there is something called the "Whistle Blower" law?
