Scrabulous blocked

So, I hear that Scrabulous has been blocked to U.S. and Canadian users on Facebook. That must be rather annoying.

Since it's a take-down under the DMCA, does anyone know what properties in particular are causing issues? It just seems so old, I would have thought copyright would have expired by now.

I'm really not familiar with how all this stuff works, but I wonder why Hasbro didn't buy Scrabulous or like, hire the guys who created it to improve the code for the official game.

I've heard that, apparently, Hasbro did approach the brothers who created Scrabulous with an offer to buy it, or some such, but were refused. Unfortunately, I just see that repeated in various threads that talk about it, but haven't actuallly seen a source to this, so it could just be a rumour that someone started to mix things up a bit which keeps getting propagated. Also, EA and.. uh, some other company, bought the rights to created Scrabble games, so that might mess things up a bit more, too.
