I love to play around with language. It really is fluid and evolving. But yeah, I have pet hates too. And I'm guilty of mistakes as well. I should be perfect being a English Literature post grad, but I often don't bother when 'writing' online. I guess I'm lazy. :)

Well you seem to write well enough, even if you do claim to be "lazy" (c: No matter how much care people take, there are still mistakes that creep in. I think what irritates me, now I think about it some more, is not necessarily just the mistakes, but when people don't care. Rules are there to be bent/broken. But one should at least know the rules in the first place, so one can choose to ignore them for effect.

Oh yes, I'm a firm believer in knowing grammatical rules. I'm forever correcting people at work! They must all hate me. But I find that I've inadvertently become the grammar guru at the library. This scares me and also falsely inflates me academic ego!

I think my IQ just dropped 100 points.

To respond to the actual content of your post, I too am usually amused by intentional mistakes made for the lolz (see, for example, my love of lolcats). But when people don't realize they're making mistakes, or if they do but can't be bothered to correct themselves? FLAMES, FLAMES ON THE SIDE OF MY HEAD FACE. (Having never seen that movie, I got the quote wrong the first time around. Oooops.)

lolcats range from amusing me to irritating me ("omg why don't you just write normally?"), but in general I'm a fan of lols. Actually, the self-referential-ish lolcat pictures which comment about the poor grammar/spelling amuse me greatly.

But, yeah. It's more wilful ignorance that irritates me, I think. People who don't want to learn irritate me. (c:

And wow, I actually had to look the quote up. I last saw that movie like.. 16 years ago.

edit: forgot to fix the < and >.

That. Was. Awesome.

One I see way too often - "rediculous". Wft?

There's also our good friend "alot".

Misuse of literally has always been one of my favourites.

Thanks. (c:

Needs more diculous.

Looking over it, I can already see more mistakes I could have made. Could have swapped accept with except. And your comment on 'rediculous' also reminded me that I could've spelled 'definitely' with an 'a'. And a slew of other things that I did include, that could have been replaced with more egregious examples.

Oh yeah, I love it when people say things like "I literally am run off my feet" or something equally silly.
