Made it through (in-my-head-scary) surgery. Hooray!  And now my entire body feels like it's been run over my an 18-wheeler truck.  Is that normal to feel the day after an operation?

After I had my gallbladder out I was pretty miserable for a week or so, but the pain meds helped. Hope you recuperate quickly.

Entirely, completely normal. I don't know the nature of your surgery, but IME it's usually a deadly combination of several things -- the anesthesia itself is really brutal on your body, your body processing the trauma of what's been done to it, and also to some extent your body's reaction to whatever meds you're on (although it's worse without them, since feeling pain diverts your body's resources away from healing). Sleep is good!

What Amy said. Anesthesia wreaks havoc on your body. Between that and the energy it expends in healing itself, it's a pretty damn big 18-wheeler. Glad you came through it okay. *gentle hugs* Let me know if you need anything.

Oh! I didn't know you were having surgery. I hope it was not scary and everything went well for you. Hugs!

I kept being surprised at how mostly normal I felt after gallbladder surgery ("I've had post concert/play/party and/or hangover days worse than this!"), and then would be equally surprised at how tired I suddenly was. Sleeping as much as you can seems to be key. Also, I couldn't really concentrate on anything for a few days; reading and television-watching that required mental investment were too much to handle, so I watched a lot of talk shows instead (plus, that's what my mother was watching). Also, also: popsicles.
