I updated.

Work has been alright.  It was busy for a while, and like I thought, slowed down during the holidays.  It was quite steady Christmas eve

I really don't know John, so I can't judge him. But from what I know by reading what you have said, he seems a very decent man and in no way rushes you into anything.

I think your sister and the rest of your family are hesitant because John is so much older then you are, and he's your first boyfriend.
Those ages don't seem very well put together in this day and age, you know? :/

For me, I see nothing strange or anything else; my own parents are 20 years apart. :P

All I can say is remember what I said before: think with your brain more then your heart. Stay in touch with your instincts when the time calls for it; in other words: be safe, careful - all of that. :3 ♥
