Sometimes a good friendship can be more rewarding than a relationship. I know it's not always what we want, but at least you can always count on them to be there...and usually none of the bad aspects are seen. However, I wouldn't let yourself get so totally down on relationships. The right person IS out there...somewhere. Ya ya...so cliche, I know... But, you've obviously found someone who's great to you, and with the teeming millions of people out there, I'm sure there are more who can give you what you deserve. And once you find that person, maybe those commitment issues you feel you have will no longer appear...
