So I went to see my grandma yesterday because the word is she was doing very poorly. Well, I didn't want to regret not seeing her one last time so I went with my parents to Sarnia, sort of last minute. I don't want to say I shouldn't have gone, but my being there did her no good, and did me a world of bad. She really didn't know I was there, she ( Read more... )

They sure don't make them like they used to... battlecatx March 22 2009, 16:11:12 UTC
95 years old?

That's incredible! Sure now she's bed ridden but I think it's great that you remember her for the strong independent woman that she became. She drove late into her years right? She raised your dad right? I admire those tough old girls... 95? do you realize that she saw 1914? She grew up in the middle of a world war and lived in the time of another... The history she's seen, the changes in this world she's witnessed...

She is a testament to the way people used to be and a reminder that at one point the soul still wants to, but the body can't anymore... just make sure you've done all you want in life before it happens.

You'd be surprised what people pick up through the haze and confusion. She either saw or heard you and it made a difference, it always makes a difference.

Just remember when times get tough to reach out to family, not only will they need you, but you might need them...

Take Care Sara, and your family.

I know what that's like....My grandma was like that too when she was in the hospital last August. It's not easy that's for sure. *hugs!* Hang in there! It's good to remember the things about her that made you smile, and not the way you last saw her...but it's hard to forget. One of my favourite times with my grandma was when some of my family was up visiting her and everyone went for a walk but me and my grandma. We just sat in her place and she talked to me about how all her kids were nuts. It made me laugh and we had a good heart to heart. I miss her though. 95 though! That's impressive...My grandma was just barely 74 when she passed. Hold onto those good thoughts! :) *hugs!!*
