Update!

All motorcycles I had for sale are sold! And now I only have to work on a new-to-me 1985 500cc Honda Shadow. Shaft drives are good. :)

Hooray for shaft drives! :) Mine was an '83, for the record, but virtually identical. I hope you enjoy it - they're fine bikes. :)

I'm looking forward to it. I need to pull the carbs and pull the mice-bits out of them. The air filter was half eaten. :)

I got your return phone call. Due to the whole "Erica is in town from California" thing, I've been a little busy. < smile >

"I got your return phone call. "

Doh! I entirely forgot to write the most important part of the reply.

Thank you! Thanks for calling back to share in the happiness of a new motorcycle. :) Have a great holiday.

Question: is there a type of bike you'd recommend for a beginner? Texas weather is much more bike-friendly than Michigan's, and I'm thinking of going motorbike and saving on gas.

Yup. A 500cc Honda Shadow would be good. It has enough power to get you around and a low enough seat height so as not to be scary.

Honda Rebels are also a good choice. 250 CCs, good resale value, easy to use.

The most important part of a first bike is to get it used. You WILL drop it, likely in a parking lot. A new bike has expensive parts that you will cry when they break. A used bike already has some scratches so you won't cry when you add one more.
