Hooray! I hope your bed nirvana lasts forever! Hey, at least you don't settle for something you're not happy with and you don't give up until you find a solution!

it's true. i am tenacious with this stuff, but sometimes i wish i was *slightly* less particular. :)

Congrats on finding much deserved bed nirvana!! Woot I don't think I would have been as patient with that process as you've been.

it's less patience and more 'not wanting to deal with the hassle & cost of shipping a king-sized mattress across the country' with a fair dose of personal neuroses thrown in for good measure. :)

I should have remembered to tell you that!! When we switched to a 100% cotton quilt the heat issue disappeared with our memory foam bed. No matter the temp, we usually only have a sheet and quilt. Glad you love your bed now:). Plus I can totally relate to this. I spent month researching beds. We have had our memory foam for 3 years now and it still feel like brand new. It's a pain in the butt to move and make, but I would still choose it again!

Mattress upset can completely ruin your life--especially if it's making your back hurt on top of making it hard to sleep! Glad you've gotten yourself situation--and that you have some extra deep pocketed sheets to hold in all those layers!

ha, yeah. it is a lot of layers. i could probably go with a 2 or 3 inch memory foam topper and the mattress pad and it would technically be less layers, but i'd also have to shell out more cash and i need to stop putting money into this stupid bed! also, because the mattress was so affordable, we're still under 1k for the whole thing so that's good!
