Busy Weekend

Today I picked up 4 new hens. Two of them are wheaten bantams, about the size of pigeons. They shall henceforth be known as Tikka and Masala. The other two are barred rocks pullets of uncertain age; they are definitely not old enough to lay, but judging by size, they're probably pretty close ( Read more... )

If the truck had not died just the day before, I would have picked up the footed skillet. But alas, I'm looking at a car payment soon. I think we'll be seeing you at Colonial Plantation, tho, so we'll see where we are at that point ....

Yah, they're pretty easy to build and maintain, and chickens are lower-maintianence than, say, dogs, but they DO require some daily attention and having someone to discourage predators doesn't hurt, either.
