I had a bad weekend too so I feel your pain.

Wanted some advice. I want to do about an hour on the treadmil today with a 5 min warm up and 5 min cool down. I can't run for more than 20 min straight. Do you have any ideas how to break the 50 min up? :)

Hmm... Maybe try 10/15 min. running intervals with some short (1-2 min.) walking breaks in between?

I don't really have any special routines when it comes to running, but when I was starting out, I just did running/walking intervals that gradually made me run more and walk less. You want to push yourself a little bit more each time, but you of course don't want to overdo it.

I'd also recommend playing around with your speed. Maybe instead of taking a walking break, you can just slow down to a nice jog and then increase the speed again. If you're feeling strong enough, you could also throw in some 30 second or 1 minute sprints in there too. An hour on the treadmill can be pretty tough, but I've found that changing up my speeds every few minutes makes it go by faster.

Hope that helps. You'll have to let me know how it went!

I forgot to charge my ipod so there was no way I was going to do 60 min on the treadmill in silence! I will try that another day though. :) I just did 30. :)

I had a turkey burger for dinner too!

Are you still getting your own work out machine? I can't remember what you said you were getting. I want a treadmill SO bad. I might breakdown and buy one on craig's list but with all the furniture I've bought for the new apartment I can't see charging another big item like a full price treadmill (as much as I REALLY want one).

No, i decided to save my money for now. But at my gym, they have some machines similar to the one I was considering, so it's a nice alternative in the meantime.

I'm still planning on buying my own eventually, hopefully next year. Being able to work out at home on my own machine would be the best thing ever, heh.

Your treadmill incline workouts make me want to try them. One day I just might.. and for more than 5 minutes. We have 5 shitty treadmills at my gym, and I live in the flattest province of canada. Go hills! woo.

yeah, it's definitely pushing me harder than running was, but in a good way. it's easier on my knees too. hope you get to try it sometime!
