I like your idea and agree with both (a) and (b), but I would also like to add option (c), which is *drum roll* going overseas and working. There is Cam USA which is awsome (heared great things about it), you could come here to good ol' Melbourne/Australia which does have an existing trans* community, or maybe Canada...? Just a thought. Good to see your face again, wondering where you'd gotten to!

I think volunteering is an amazing thing to do, get to meet some very interesting people and do something good at the same time. Agree with freakygems though, going abroad is very good too, highly recommended : ) might be interesting to see different attitudes towards the issues you're interested in, what our country sees as accepted norms may be viewed from a completely different angle. (Alcholism for example - here its seen as illness, group therapy etc (generalism, i know) in Russia on the other hand, is seen not as an illness but as something the alcoholic's brought on him/herself and is treated with hypnotism, ok, not a very positive example, but do you get what i mean?)
