'Bout Books.

Courtesy of thatliardesmond, a book meme. Where these questions say "one," you'll have to parenthetically insert "of many," because there's not just a single answer to these questions.

1. One book that changed your life:
Dragonsong, by Anne McCaffrey. In addition to everything else, it's responsible for my theatre career.

2. One book that you’ve read more than once:
Tam Lin, by pameladean.

3. One book you’d want on a desert island:
An encyclopedia, assuming I wasn't the one who had to carry it there.

4. One book that made you laugh:
Toughie -- I don't really read books for their humor, and I don't remember what book has amused me recently. But The Phantom Tollbooth probably honed my appreciation for puns.

5. One book that made you cry:
Oh, I am a weeper. Just about everything I read makes me cry, even if it ends happily. I cry near the end of Tam Lin each time, even knowing what's coming.

6. One book that you wish had been written:
My thesis.

7. One book that you wish had never been written:
The Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

8. One book you’re currently reading:
The Queen's Fool, by Philippa Gregory.
The Other Boleyn Girl made me quite angry in spots, but this one is less troublesome because the main character is not an actual person about whom plenty of facts are available.

9. One book you’ve been meaning to read:
I really must start digging in to the works of both Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. (I haven't a clue where to begin, though.)

9a. One book you liked so much you gave it to someone else because you knew, just knew, they'd like it too:
Naked Through the Snow and Other Bits of Silliness, by sailor_jim (a.k.a. Jim Johnston). I actually gave copies to two different people and also kept one for myself.

10. Now tag eight people:
Nothin' doin'. Not like there's enough traffic here to make it worthwhile anyhow.
