Just like everything else in the country, the poor and rich are just fine. It's the middle class that gets screwed now and it's the middle class and poor that will be screwed in socialized healthcare

One of the reasons I was impressed with him was not his intelligence, but the fact that he surrounded himself with knowledgeable people. People that didn't necessarily agree with him. He didn't seem to feel threatened by people that weren't part of the traditional core party.
He's already made a name for himself as a senator by meeting with foreign leaders and by bringing people to the bargaining table that were previously his enemies. He holds himself as a person with integrity and speaks earnestly. I don't think he'll keep all his promises, but with him I feel there's at least some hope that actions will be taken in the country's long-term best interest--and not in the interests of a special privileged few.
I would agree that he is a wonderful speaker and I love his promises to unite party lines. As a moderate/libertarian, this make me excited. I think you are right. I think that who you trust and surround yourself with is a very important (perhaps the most) part of being a leader in any arena. Many people say Bush is evil/bad/the boogieman, and it is very easy as humans to put people into groups like that. However, I think that mostly he is just a poor speaker and very poor at picking his people

Ha, true true. You should see the Mississippi adds. Both the candidates were mud slinging and it was hilarious. At least you know you are getting a jerk either way right up front. Haha!

And hope has been in pretty short supply lately.

I hope he surrounds himself with the right people and continues doing what he did so well before and during the campaign.

In the end, he's a politician. It's rather like believing in a used car salesman.
