Eden hasn't lost track of the specific spot where she first appeared on the island; she never knew where it was. At the time, reeling from her arrival, blood in her hair and, sometimes, eyes, head pounding and heart racing, the exact location was of approximately zero importance to her. She doesn't, for that matter, remember the stretch of beach ( Read more... )

"William Shakespeare himself? Jeez, I bet people were rushing around him and trying to get to know him," Claire shakes her head with a small amount of amazement. While she can't say that Shakespeare is her favorite author by far (and she's not sure she can even pick a favorite playwright in general, having as little exposure into that kind of work as she does), it still leaves her a little starstruck, imagining him walking that same island and those same beaches. "Asking questions about his work... hopefully it wasn't a letdown. But no, no, the only plays of his that we've read for class so far are Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth. Haven't gotten to Midsummer yet."

"Oh, well, we'll have to fix that," Eden says. She grins and shakes her head, looking down at Origami, who's decided to try napping on a shorter stack of books. Half on it, anyway. "I don't think we ever read Midsummer in high school. And oh, I did not enjoy that stuff back then." She hadn't been a model student, certainly, but she hadn't wanted to just get out and go home either, so she'd been diligent if silent. It was the latter that had caused so much difficulty, though she'd only ever meant it as a way to avoid trouble. "But you know, no one in my class ever knew how to read it. That's the real trick - learning how to read Shakespeare like he's... you know, just you and me, like you'd read any modern author. The meaning's right there, you just kind of have to say it instead of making some grand fuss. I think you'll like it."
