The island was officially the worst.
Telling the truth to everyone was bad enough, although 'everyone' at this point mostly consisted of Marshall. What was worse was realizing that living on an island could basically kill her brother at any point and there wasn't a whole lot she could do about that. It wasn't like she had any working knowledge of how to manufacture an Epi-pen so that he always had one with him, no matter how many he had to use, and she sure didn't know of any way to kill all the bees on the island either.
Now that it had happened, now that he'd actually been stung by a bee and taken to the clinic, it was all Kate could think about. Even though he was fine and he was back in the room they shared, all she could think about was what might have happened if he'd been alone. If no one had been there to bring him back. Her brother would have died out in the jungle, totally alone, and Kate couldn't stop herself from imagining it over and over again.
"You suck," she hissed at herself, angrily thumping around the kitchen. A cupboard slammed behind her after she grabbed a mug off a shelf. She was stomping a little, walking heavier than she would have usually, annoyed at absolutely everything. Even the coffee annoyed her as she poured herself a cup and she set it back down too heavily, causing it to slosh out of the carafe and onto her hands.
"Fuck!" She was being too loud. She was being a child, but she didn't care. All she wanted right now was for her mom and dad to be here. They always knew what to do to take care of Marshall and Kate was suddenly aware of how little she could really do for her brother.
[She's cranky, worried and filled with truthful things to tell people. ST/LT, the works. All welcome.]
