Escape
Sam Crew isn't a baby, anymore. He's two and a half and more than capable of roaming on his own. While his mother may think otherwise, he grows more and more confident in the fact that he should go places by himself with each passing week. Maybe not too near the water or anything, but definitely around where the people and animals are. He's even starting to get a little more patient. He patiently plays on the floor of the rec room until his mother falls asleep. He is quiet when he sneaks away, as quiet as a little boy can be. He waits patiently until someone opens the big, heavy door before darting outside to freedom. To adventure. Adventure within limits.
It's hot, so he loses his shoes and socks pretty quickly, leaving them strewn on the path as he plods determinedly towards the animal pen that his Grandpas take him to sometimes. There are all sorts of things there. He probably likes the cows the best because they don't move too quickly and sometimes they come up to the fence. He doesn't quite manage to get his shirt all the way off, but both arms are at least free and his shorts are much easier. He heaves them to the side of the path with glee and darts the rest of the way until he reaches the fence. The last hurdle. It seems kind of high, but again, he's patient today. He's getting over that fence and he's getting to those animals. One way or another.
