So here's what you missed on Glee:

Puck and Santana have been stranded on an island that kind of reminds them of Lost, except without the cool polar bears and the smoke monster, and both of them are missing home and feeling way out of their league, even if neither will admit to it. ( "Not your type of party, is it?" "If I say no, you're going to Read more... )

"That was wonderful!" Starfire exclaims cheerfully, applauding once the song comes to and end. She's never heard the song, and it wasn't really anything like the type of music she'd heard back on Tamaran, but music was supposed to be a universal language, wasn't it?

"You have a lovely voice."

The girl is quiet enough that Kurt turns around with a slight jump, not having expected anyone else to find their way into the room. A silly assumption on his part, really. Even just three days on the island has gone far in informing him of where people tend to congregate on the island, and the Compound is certainly one of those areas, giving the easiest access to decent showers, a wide range of food, and an unlimited source of books for those who care to read. But there are times when one can't dwell on practical considerations or worries. For Kurt, singing's always been one of those times.

"Why, thank you," he bows his head gracefully first, beaming under the weight of praise so freely given. There's a slight double-take when he looks up, however, to find that the face is all too familiar (pole dancing has never before been such a major sandal), even if the complexion is a bit different than he remembers seeing in paparazzi photos. Her voice, too. "Wow, Miley, I had... no idea you were also stuck on this island," he grins at last, ( ... )

If nothing else, constantly being mistaken for the Miley person allows Star to determine where, and at least an approximation of when, people were from without having to ask. "Um. No. Sorry if it is a disappointment, but I am not her. We just look very similar. I have heard it happens a lot here, but I am no expert on Earth celebrities."

If that's a new tactic that Miley's using in order to ward off paparazzi and potential fans... well, Kurt can at least admit to the fact that it's rather creative, even if he's already questioning the young girl's sanity. Then again, being raised by a country star father can't have been easy, Kurt reminds himself, all of the pressures of maintaining a wholesome country girl appearance coupled with a star's access to all the most sordid materials society has to offer. So, he forgives her for this. And decides that there's no reason why he can't play along.

"Oh, believe me, not all too great of a disappointment," he grins, trying to be encouraging, although inwardly, he cringes, wondering if he's just insulted her somehow. "But- Earth celebrities? What other kind of celebrities would there be?"

"Non-Earth celebrities? I am sure other planets must have them. We did not. Great war heroes, certainly, but nothing that matches what you have on your home planet." Not even close. But if they had, Starfire does hope that they would have been of a better class than the Miley person. That show of hers was terrible.

"Oh! Forgive me. I am Starfire, of the planet Tamaran."

So she believed herself to be an alien. This was information that immediately began to give Kurt trouble as he stopped, expression freezing in place, unable to process the rest of what she had to say while he dealt with the pure impossibility of another planet existing and having produced life forms so similar to humankind. He wasn't a science buff, not by any stretch of the imagination, but in this, Kurt was pretty sure that he had reason to doubt his sanity right then.

Doubly so once the name finally registered at last.

"Starfire like... Titans?"

So Puffy Ami had been kind of catchy. And so what if Kurt was kind of a Nightwing fan? He found a hard time believing that anyone wouldn't be.

"Yes!" Star shouts exuberantly. "The Teen Titans. Currently Titan, since my friends have yet to show up... But there are other Titans here, from different time periods. Even after months of being here, that is still very strange to me." Especially since she is apparently old in at least one of those time periods.

Strange though it may be to have a living and breathing Titan in front of him, Kurt's never had anything but respect for comics as a medium, and from what he's seen of the cartoons (though he'd never admit it, sometimes it's just easier to sit down for Saturday morning cartoons than it is to sit through Broadway theater, the latter often leaving him in tears one way or another), he knows that Starfire is pretty much a bundle of positive energy herself. He has no reason to be anything but kind to someone like that, even as he flinches slightly at the shout, a silent laugh on his lips.

"I admit, I'm not sure what I would do it there were people here from my, ah, future," he muses with a tilt of his head. "Both of my friends here are roughly from the same time, even a touch behind. I don't like being left out of the loop much."

"So you arrived to find those you knew already here? That's wonderful," she says, genuinely glad for him. She could be happy for him even when her own situation is so vastly different. When the day came that one or more of her Titans showed up, she'd be there, and they could then say that they had someone there from home to greet them.

"I have met my friends from some time in the future once before, but here, those from the future are people I had not even met yet. Very much outside of the loop."

She seems so... happy. And while Kurt knows to expect it, from what he remembers of the show, still it comes off as a shock to him that someone would be able to keep her spirits so high in situations like these. Maybe they've got it better here than Gotham ever has (no, that much is a certainty), but there are plenty of stories that make it clear that the lack of companionship can be more difficult than any other external hurdles and burdens. It's hard enough, Kurt thinks, to move on day by day without his father by his side.

Without any friends, though- or to be limited to supposed friends from the future? That's something else.

"I'm sorry," he offers, not quite able to pull that smile sincerely over his expression anymore. "That's gotta be really tough."
