Once Bill had discovered people had woken up with powers they'd not had yesterday, he'd not been able to help the surge of excitement as he dug out his wand - it had been so long, he'd long since stopped carrying it. When it proved to still be in effect a rather useless, albeit nice-looking, piece of wood, he'd shoved it back in its place in frustration. It sodding figured.
It was hard not to be disappointed by his continued lack of magic, but Bill was nothing if not an optimist, and it was still rather entertaining to witness the various reactions of others and see what sorts of abilities people had got. He had an excellent spot from which to view it all, too, as he cooked and served dinner.
Tonight was pasta with shrimp, shepherd's pie with boar, vegetable stew, fruit salad, and muffins. Everything was laid out and ready to be served, and Bill was currently working on dessert, which was to be a lemon pound cake, the recipe for which he'd got from Susan a while ago. The cake was baking, and due to come out soon, so Bill was making the glaze that was poured over the top so it would be ready. As he worked, he kept an eye out for anyone needing help, especially tonight, when some might have needed it more than usual.
