Choosing to join women's defense had been, in Kurt's opinion, one of the smartest ideas that he'd made since landing on the island, and for more reasons than one. There was certainly a greater deal of comfort that he felt overall, walking on the island, with the knowledge that he could probably momentarily incapacitate someone twice his size if he really had to. But even more than that, he couldn't help thinking that women's defense had been best at acquainting Kurt with a slew of bright, independent, strong young women that he would've otherwise passed by without a thought. Seeing Alexis at the party only made Kurt beam, even if he didn't know her all too well, quickly wandering over to pay his compliments.

"Wow, it's like someone decided to bottle the starry night sky and then invite her over to my humble party," he beamed, tilting his head to get a better look at the outfit. "You look stunning, if I may say."

"Oh wow, thanks, Kurt!" Alexis said, beaming at the compliment. "I wrestled this out of the clothes box a few months ago for an event, and I thought it was way too nice to just wear once and then put away. Especially since we don't exactly have an island branch of H&M or access to Modcloth."

She hesitated for just a fraction of a second, knowing they weren't exactly well acquainted, then decided to hell with it and threw her arms around him in a brief but warm hug. "Happy birthday! Thanks for inviting me," she said. "And speaking of looking stunning, look at you, you look awesome. Very sharp."

Although he let out a brief gasp of surprise at the sudden embrace, Kurt found himself relaxing into it quite easily, the smile on his face only widening until the effort felt almost painful. There was something that he found undeniably sweet about Alexis, and almost understated in a good way (though, he reminded himself, his own definition of understated was almost certainly skewed by the range of personalities found on the glee club, all of the loud, opinionated, and desiring of attention in some capacity).

"You're right, the clothes here... are definitely worth saving if you can, especially since that box chooses to be difficult at the worst of times," he laughed. "I find myself mixing and matching more than I used to. But thank you, thank you twice over. I'm just so glad that you came, and I'm so glad that people seem to be enjoying the party; for a minute I worried that it was too much, I tend to get carried away with these things."

"Believe me, there's no such thing as too much when it comes to parties around here," Alexis assured Kurt with a laugh. "That's one of the constants on the island, really, you can always count on parties being thrown on a fairly regular basis for some reason or another. And creative parties are always good."

"I'd heard about some of the other parties thrown, actually; I asked around a bit before setting this one up," Kurt admitted with a slow nod of his head, eyes slightly wide as he recalled the rather interesting conversation that he'd had with Puck on the matter. Interesting most of all because the description was rather lacking in details, which left Kurt wondering just how far people went at the standard teenage island soiree. "And I was slightly worried that this one would be seen as too tame. I mean, fortunately we've got a great bar strangely prepared to serve anyone over sixteen, which... well, let's just say that I hope this place proves that the US ought to rethink their legal age, but I also hope it doesn't overly enable us impulsive teens. But things like pot brownies, ecstasy, definitely not my type of fare. I've never gone to anything even remotely resembling a rave."
