"And so we find ourselves here again," says Geoffrey, projecting from front and centre of the stage, "as we have so many times before."

They haven't been on the island so long that Geoffrey should have lost count, but he has all the same, the terms and years beginning to add up in his head. And yet his enthusiasm for the process remains high, taking comfort in having something that structures their lives, even if in a small way.

"Welcome, welcome, and thank you all for coming out today. In a few moments each of your candidates for Island Council will take the stage to try to convince you to throw a vote their way this term. There will be time for questions following each speaker, so let's all give them our reasonably undivided attention and see where this brand new term of office might take us."

With a nod and a wave, Geoffrey takes a few steps back and then exits stage left, clearing the stage for the first speech of the afternoon.

[OOC: The only top level tags should be Council nominee speeches. Questions or responses can then be directed to any of them. This post is open until voting begins. All candidates must make a speech in order to be on the final ballot.]
