The latest round of Island Council elections were finished, and I once again had the job of posting the results to the Compound bulletin board: Tabula Rasa Island Council - Term 12

To be honest, I had... expectations, going into the Council race. Not for myself, of course- the moment that you assume victory is the moment that you, in one way or another, concede the race- but for the other names on the ballot. A good number of my preconceptions had been shattered entirely by the speeches, leaders rising out of the woodwork that I suppose I haven't been paying fullest attention to, too buried in books and paperwork. They left me feeling inspired, I suppose I should most accurately say, to the point where I find myself actively seeking out Steve Rogers to give him my personal congratulations. I'm sure I won't be the only one, and I don't want to take up too much of his time when I'll be working with him for the next six months to come, but he deserves a nod. More than.
"Congratulations," I greet, hoping that my voice doesn't sound too hoarse from the lab accident a few days ago. "I just wanted to say how glad I am to see that you've made it onto the Council, Mister Rogers. It's a victory well-deserved."
"Likewise, Miss Granger," I say, offering the girl a smile and extending my hand to shake. She's a self-possessed young lady, and her speech was one of the strongest in the set.
"I look forward to serving with you." My gaze drops, slightly, to her neck, though I know I won't see any physical signs of damage. I can hear it though.
Taking his hand, I shake it firmly in return. As far as respect goes, I have no doubt that Steve Rogers gives everyone their fair due, although I can feel my cheeks warming as his gaze drops to my neck- I hope that coming out in this state won't be seen as irresponsible. It's kind, however, that he's noticed.
"Better, for the most part. I try not to speak overly much while my throat continues to heal, but it's been... a difficult process, restraining myself," I reply with a breathless laugh. "I do have the tendency to be a bit long-winded."
