Thanks very much indeed to
a_d_medievalist,
badgersandjam,
braisedbywolves,
dorianegray,
sammywol and
songofnewday for an excellent round of first lines for An Older Kind of Magic.
I am varying from the usual tradition by using a dropdown menu for the actual answers, but the submissions are (sorted alphabetically by the first words of each sentence):
- "Asleep in class again Mr Golightly?"
- If you held your head to one side and squinted a bit you could just about make out the face in the bark of the tree.
- It was early spring when the Potter twins descended on Benny Golightly's house.
- It was the first day of the summer holidays, and Benny Golightly was bored.
- "Selina, come back!"
- There were not many people in the Gardens, for it was a winter afternoon in the middle of the week.
- "You'll need extra pocket money for the outing," said Mrs. Golightly briskly.
I'm a bit dubious about this practice of giving bonus points for identifying other people's lines, but it has clearly become custom and practice here, so I have included that option below. Please can I have your votes over the next 24 hours, along with first lines for
Great Home Decorating Ideas and
Kill or Cure.
