1. Doris hurried past the gaping hole in the ground, where men shouted and a huge crane clawed up mounds of earth.

2. I always knew I was destined for something special.

3. I didn't mean to destroy the typewriter.

4. I don't think I'd ever seen a synthetic fabric before 1930, but I couldn't say that I'd ever noticed.

5. I have long suspected that my life would make a fascinating story, which is lucky, as one should only attempt to write such stories.

6. I only went to the audition because I had nothing else to do.

7. I stumbled out into the street, attempting to adjust my stockings as best I could.

8. It must have been around twelve midnight last night that I felt something wonderful happening inside of me.

9. Silk - and I mean real silk - comes out of the backside of a worm, which is why I'd never wear it right next to my bare skin.

10. The day even started off badly with mis-matched stockings on my mis-matched legs.
