name: Abe Shun
age: 13
position & team: Left field, Kawaguchi Eagles
koushien dream email: screameagleeye@koushiendream.net (That’s my bankai. :) )

history:

Shun doesn’t remember a time when his eggs were not stolen from his plate (sometimes right out of his chopsticks) or when he wasn’t snapped at regularly by an older brother he idolizes, fears, loves, and sometimes hates. All part of being the younger brother in the Abe household, especially when the elder is the prickly Abe Takaya.

In a long line of catchers, Shun is the exception. He’s left-handed, and there just aren’t that many left-handed catchers (Shun knows; he looked it up). Besides, he’s really small too, so it’s hard for him to have enough sticking power to defend home or throw all the way to second. So he plays left field for the Kawaguchi Eagles, a Boy’s Team (not Seniors like the league Takaya was in). Not being a catcher, he feels like he’s letting the family down and feels like he isn’t really part of Takaya and their father’s ‘in club’. That’s why Shun hopes he can make everyone proud by becoming a cleanup batter; as amazing as his idol Tajima. He’s had his eye on Tajima since Tajima was in middle school playing for the Arakawa Sea Breams and thinks Takaya is soooo lucky to get to play with him. Although the Abe parents put their sons in separate leagues when they were younger to avoid brotherly conflict (which they really do get enough of at home), Shun hopes that when he enters high school he’ll get into Nishiura and get to play at least one year with Tajima too! And Mihashi, whom he thinks has a really nice smile. In the meantime, he’s happy enough with the occasional batting pointers whenever Tajima comes over to visit Takaya (and getting to see Mihashi once in a while too).

When he’s not playing baseball or at school, Shun likes to play video games (usually by himself or with just one or two friends), read manga, listen to music, or watch movies. His life doesn’t revolve around baseball, but it is one of many things he enjoys doing.

personality:

Unlike his elder brother, Shun is quite sweet-tempered and polite. He has an easy smile and is really quite innocent (for a 13-year-old) and friendly. Despite how easy he is to get along with, he doesn’t have a whole lot of friends his own age. He’s got a few close friends who’re classmates, but really wants to be friends with the older boys like his brother. He thinks maybe if he can be friends with Takaya’s friends, then Takaya might like him better… and be his friend too.

And don't let Shun’s politeness fool you! He can be very bold: he asked Tajima to show him his moves the very first time they met, and he’s not afraid to stand up to his older brother at times.

He’s also a total momma’s boy and loves to help his mom out with whatever she needs, especially if she’s in the kitchen. If Takaya gets most of their dad’s attention, Shun gets most of their mom’s. He’s a little spoiled since he knows she’ll come to his defense if Takaya’s ever picking on him, but he’s also genuinely interested in doing whatever she asks of him (unless it’s for Takaya; then he might grumble a bit before caving).

strengths & weaknesses:

A strength of Shun’s is his positive outlook. He’s usually very cheerful and tries not to let things get him down. He’s also pretty good at cooking since he watches and helps his mom out in the kitchen (unlike his brother; which he’s proud of).

One of Shun’s weaknesses is that he can be a bit approval-seeking. He really wants others to like him and it upsets him when they don’t. He’d like to be as cool as Takaya (whom he doesn’t think he’s seen cry since they were little; not in front of him anyway), but that’s unlikely to ever happen.

SAMPLES
-first person-

Hello! I saw this website thing open on Takaya’s computer and I want to join too! (Um, if you read this Takaya, your door was open-I didn’t sneak in or anything! So you can’t get mad at me. Mom said.)

My name is Abe Shun and I play for the Kawaguchi Eagles. That’s a Boy’s Team. I play left field because I’m left-handed and am good at catching the fouls down the left sideline. Coach says it’s a really important position, but I think my dad wishes I could have been a catcher like him and Takaya. I want to be a cleanup batter instead! I even have two bats to practice with at home, both different weights. (And I’m saving up my allowance to get a weighted bat too.)

Anyway, even though I’m just in middle school, I hope I can make some friends here! Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!
