Pairing(s): MinSu
Basic Synopsis: Junsu is an eighteen year old teen who thinks his life is just too boring. Ever since his best friend left the country and he stayed behind, nothing new seems to happen. That is until is friend, Seung Ri, forces him to go on a double date and by chance he meets someone who might make his life fun again.

Junsu hated the cold weather. Hated the fact that he had to get out of bed and go through the thermal shock that was going from his bed to his bathroom and then getting out from the hot shower and dressing to go to school.

He had just turned eighteen, but was not as joyful as he should about it. His best friend, Yoochun, had left to America during the last summer after going through a somewhat tragic situation with his girlfriend. Yoochun was one year older than Junsu, but the two were inseparable, so when the elder left the country, Junsu was even more lonely.

Junsu had fallen asleep that day, so he had to do everything in a rush, did not have the time to eat his breakfast and as if it was not bad enough, on the way to school, besides the cold, started raining and the only protection he had was his rain coat and his blue beanie.

The boy started running as fast as he could but soon enough someone coming from the oposite direction collided with him. Both fell back and hit the ground in a matter of seconds.

“Aish… Hey, are you ok?” Asked Junsu, trying to get up.

“Yeah, I am”

Junsu got up and tried to clean the dirt off of his pants, only to make it worse. Grumbling something that the other could not figure out, he just looked at him and smiled a bit “Sorry about that, okay?” a slight bow and off he went again, running.

As soon as he got to school, the rain stopped and the boy felt grateful for his not-so-stylish waterproof coat - a birthday present from an aunt he didn’t even knew that existed - but his jeans were something else. They were completely soaked on his legs and butt, after colliding with the stranger and falling, so they were heavy and falling.

“Wow, Junsu, what happened?” Asked his friend, Seung Ri

“Started raining suddenly. Halfway a guy just came out of nowhere and I fell. My butt is freezing and my pants are falling.

Seung Ri rolled his eyes at the description “I am sure that a lot of people would find that sexy or tempting but not me, so save it. Let’s just go to class. If you’re late again, Ms. Kwon won’t let you in.

As always, Junsu did not pay a tiny bit of attention in class since he was more interested in sending text messages to Yoochun. Yes, the roaming was expensive and “killed” most of his allowance, but there was nothing else to do. The class was boring and Seung Ri was busy flirting with the girl sitting next to him and did not care about Junsu at the moment.

After hours of sending text messages, the sound of the bell rang and freed Junsu of the boredom and imprisonement of the classes. Hurriedly preparing to leave and go home, where he could do everything he wanted without being pestered - which actually was go online and chat withYoochun all afternoon since the guy aparently did not sleep and would possibly be in the chatroom at any hour Junsu decided to show up - Junsu was suddenly grabbed by Seung Ri, smilling devilishly and informing his friend that they were going for coffee.

“I don’t drink coffee, you know that.” Stated Junsu

“You do now. I got that cutie there,” and Seung Ri quickly turns Junsu around so that he can see the girl “to go out with me this afternoon and she can’t wait to try the cake at the new coffee-shop.”

“I have to go home, okay?”

Junsu tried to loose the grasp of his friend’s hand.

It didn’t work.

“No, you don’t. You WANT to go home, it’s different.”

“Precisely. Bye then.”

“Oh no, you don’t” Seung Ri grabbed Junsu’s arm again and there was no escape. “You want, but I am not going to let you and you know why? Because the cutie’s best friend came to like you for some awkward reason,” he states, not looking at a shocked Junsu “so, you are coming with me, pal. Two couples, you know what I mean?”

“One couple, a girl and a third wheel that’s more like it. So I’m going just to distract her friend, right? Well those cakes better be good then.”

Both couples - or Seung Ri and his date, plus a weird girl and a third wheel - arrived at the coffee shop only to stare at the line that was formed outside.

“Are they giving something for free in there?” Junsu blurted.

Twenty minutes later, the four managed to get in the shop and as soon as they did, the waiter approached them.

“Good afternoon. My name is Leeteuk and I’ll be your waiter today. Table for four, correct? Right this way.”

The waiter showed them their table and as soon as the four were comfortably sitting, he handed them the menu. “I’ll give you a moment to choose.” The boy said, smilling.

After Leeteuk briefly disappear, everyone took one menu and looked into it, but only Junsu was shocked.

“Oh dear… this is REALLY expensive!”

“Junsu…” Seung Ri whispered, trying to ease his embarassement.

“Are you kidding? All this for a coffee and two small mint cakes? Wait a minute, mint cakes?”

It was already beyond his ability to try and not be embarassed with Junsu’s behaviour, and thankfully the waiter came in just in time or Seung Ri would have made Junsu’s mouth stop moving.

After the orders, the waiter took the menus and returned a few minutes later, with the food.

“Here you go. Enjoy.”

Junsu was still inspecting his mint cakes, only to see that they had some kind of green cream inside.

“What did you expect? It’s mint cakes! Just eat and shut up, okay?”

Now Seung Ri was not in his best mood. Junsu still wondered why… did he do something wrong?

Junsu did not open his mouth again and started munching on his cakes, realizing that he had never eaten something this good. No need to say that he focused his attention on his cakes only and not on the girl he had in front of him, which made her quite mad.

Realizing how his friend was ruining his date, Seung Ri just made Junsu get up to pay the bill.

“Good afternoon.” Greeted a good-looking and (very) young boy, smiling.

Junsu still wondered if this kid was old enough to work there, but threw that thought aside and told him the table’s number.

“Table number seven… yes, the total amount is…”

“Taemin, they need you in the kitchen. Something about the cupcakes being out of control. I’ll take your place here.”

The boy just grumbled something about someone being an idiot and some more words that Junsu could not catch up and left. In front of Junsu was then a tall man, smiling slightly. “Good afternoon.” Greeted the taller.

“Ah! This morning! It was you.” Pointed Junsu at the boy.

“I’m sorry?”

Junsu removed his streched and pointing finger of the way. “We collided this morning on the street.” The other did not say a thing, which embarassed Junsu even more. “Table seven. The check please.”

After paying the bill (and becoming broke suddenly), Junsu saw the guy in front of him handing him a pink paper and looked back at him.

“It’s a discount coupon. The next time you come here with your date, she does not pay. They are couple coupons” The boy said, looking at Junsu’s table.

“Oh my God, no! She’s not my girlfriend, geez!”

Junsu’s panic was trully hilarious and the other one could not help but laugh at it. “They are good for couples, but not exclusive to them.”

Junsu tried to hide once again his embarassement and looked around. “Do you take orders?”

“Yes, we do. You go to that counter and order what you want. My colegue will take care of everything.”

Soon after, the little boy Taemin came back, quite frustrated. “Changmin, you definitely have to fire that incompetent Shindong! Seven spoons of yeast?!”

“I’ll talk to him, okay? You can stay here.”

“I’m sorry, you -“ Junsu tried, but Changmin was already gone. The boy sighed. “Excuse me -” Junsu read the pin on the younger boy’s shirt “Taemin. Is he the chef pâtissier?

“He is the boss. He owns this place, but you are right, he is a chef pâtissier. When the shop opened he was always in the kitchen, now he has other pâtissiers, but the recipes are all his.” The boy explained.

“So he owns this,” Junsu was clearly impressed “and he looks so young. To be a successful chef pâtissier and have his own shop is amazing.”

Taemin tilted his head to the side, trying to figure out what Junsu was saying. Since it was obvious that he was making himself embarassed again, Junsu stopped admiring Changmin’s talent and resumed to smiling and quickly going to the next counter to make his order.

Junsu woke up early the next day. He wanted to pass by somewhere before going to school so he made a slight detour and got into Changmin’s coffee-shop.

The sound of the entrance’s bell made the elder one know that someone had arrived and a famliar voice greeted Junsu.

“Good morning. Welcome back.” Greeted Changmin.

Junsu bowed his head, saying the same words back at the shop’s owner.

“Are you a regular now?

“What can I say? Your cakes won me.” Junsu stated, while sitting on a chair.”

“So what is going to be today, mister?”

“Not mister. It’s Junsu.”

“What are you having then, Junsu?” Why did the sound of his name felt so different after Changmin said it? Junsu blushed for some reason but still managed to order what he wanted. Cappuccino and a strawberry cupcake.

“Are you alone? Where are your employees?”

“At this time is quite normal. The shop opens at eight thirty.” Junsu frowned slightly, while looking at Changmin “It’s seven thirty.”

That was it. He was so embarassed. He never thought that the shop was closed, but then again he did not even check the time when he left home.

“The sign on the door says ‘closed’” Changmin sure was enjoying embarrassing Junsu even more and so the younger one got up his chair as quick as he could and appologised.

“Cancel the order, okay? I can’t believe I’m making you work before the shop is even open and -“

“What are you saying? Your order is ready. C’mon, eat now and you can leave afterwards.” It was an order and Junsu compeled. “So, what do you do? Study?”

“Yeah, I’m in highschool.”

“You are what? Eighteen? Nineteen?” Changmin tried to guess.

“Eighteen. My birthday was two days ago.”

Changmin smiled again “Happy belated birthday then.”

Junsu blushed (again) and kept eating silently, while Changmin was putting the cakes nicely rowed in the shop window.

Minutes later, Taemin and Leeteuk got in and greeted their boss.

“Are we late?” Asked Leeteuk, pointing towards Junsu.

“It’s a special client.” Changmin said

Junsu was again embarassed, so he quickly got up and appologized, making a 90 degree bow. “I am very sorry!” After getting his act together again, the boy looked at Changmin and asked for the check.

“Leave it. It’s on me. After all we are not open yet”

“I can’t tak -“

“You have to. You can pay tomorrows’” Junsu looked at Changmin, intrigued “You are not coming tomorrow?”

Junsu’s voice quavered slightly “I might come.”

Changmin agreed that everything was settled and smiled at Junsu. The younger one bowed then again and left the shop.

While Leeteuk went into the dressing room to change clothes, Taemin kept looking at a smiling Changmin. “Am I going to be permanently in the kitchen?” Asked the boy, interrupting Changmin’s thoughts.

“No Taemin, you will be on the cashier as always”

“Great, because that kitchen is a mess without you. Believe me: never leave Shindong alone in a kitchen.” The boy prepared to leave to the dressing room, but something suddenly crossed his mind “Hey, Changmin hyung, was that guy ‘him’?”

“Yes, Taemin. It’s him.”
