There was a wood, red and golden, stark dry branches and dying autumn flowers. The stream that wound its way through the fading meadow still sparkled, rushing over rocks and fallen trunks of old and mossy trees, a large stream, its current strong. Although bright and grassy once, the banks along it now were a soft yellow, quiet and littered with ( Read more... )

"Lost..?"

The word sounded prettier from the creature's lips than it did his own. Hisoka wasn't aware of becoming lost, but yet simultaneously wasn't particularly sure where he was anymore. He'd heard the haunting melody long before he'd wandered into the beautiful meadow. He'd come for the music, enchanted and enthralled, helpless to act in any other way. Did that make him lost? He... wasn't particularly sure.

"I heard you play.. It's beautiful."

The young man still smiled. "Thank you. I like to practice here. It's an inspiring sort of place." Lowering the violin to his lap gently, he leaned forward a little as might be polite when making conversation.

"Don't you think so?"

His eyes followed the travel of the violin, only snapping to the man's face as an afterthought. He was being rude. It was rude to go this long without replying.

"Y-yes.. Inspiring. It is..."

"Do you like it?" he prompted, leaning forward a breath further, golden eyes searching the boy's inquisitively, just a hint playfulness.

"It suits you," was his immediate reply. His eyes shied away from the invasive stare, traveling instead along the subtle curves of his naked body.

"Would you mind terribly if you had an audience?"

Bright as he was already, the sudden beaming smile must have been brilliant. "I would love an audience. Music is meant to be heard, after all."

Brilliant hardly described it. It was majestic. The beauty of it knocked Hisoka to his knees and sent him crawling the remaining distance to settle at the creature's side, oblivious to anything else around them.

"I'd.. be honored to listen.."

The boy splashed his way toward him in the ankle-deep water with the faintly endearing, faintly disgusting clumsiness of a human. He reached out a hand to stroke that pretty head, guiding it closer so Hisoka's cheek could rest on his thigh.

The Nøkken's skin was smooth and cool, long nails softly raking through Hisoka's light hair. "Thank you."

Lifting the violin and tucking it beneath his chin again, he let the boy rest against him as he began to play, slow and seductive.

"What is your name?"

He let himself be repositioned without argument, soothed by the ethereal creature's demeanor, by his voice, his everything. His eyes slipped closed when the fingers slipped into his hair, content to linger here indefinitely.

Name? ..Name. He had a name. It was used often when there wasn't this haunting music to fill his soul. It was important to recall the name now, to give the right answer to that the melody could continue boring its way into him.

"Hisoka."

"Hisoka," he repeated quietly, feeling the name, the power of it. Knowing a real name was like having a handhold to the soul: the boy was his entirely.

He continued playing without missing a beat, though his eyes were on Hisoka.

"Did you come from far away, Hisoka? Why don't you stay here and rest?" he suggested reasonably.

"I came from.." The end of the sentence lingered. He came from a place that didn't have this song. He'd followed the song here. It was a beautiful song. It was the sort of song that sent him floating off to a distant plane.

"I should stay here and rest," he agreed, having never really managed to find the answer to that first question.

It was obvious in the way Hisoka spoke, the way his sentences trailed off until all he could do was repeat the Nøkken's own words, that he was captured. That had been even easier than he'd expected.

"I'm glad. I would like some company," he admitted, and though that was the truth, it was much different than it seemed right now to the helpless boy kneeling amongst the lilies at his feet.

"I want you to stay with me forever," he purred, still playing sweetly, enticing and relaxing.

Such was the nature of his empathy. It was a supernatural power of his own, to find touch with nature, to sense emotion and thought. It meant that his own spirit was oftentimes exposed, raw and naked, to the nredatory forces that influenced them. In a way, Hisoka's abilities made him the most natural sort of food for Mello's kind. It was good that he'd wanted company. Hisoka wanted nothing more than to be company. It was a matter without question that he should assent.

"Forever..." He agreed in a dreamy tone. He moaned lightly after the vow was made, as though the long, warbling notes brought him physical pleasure in reply.

The moan caught his attention and Mello blinked, intrigued. Such a pretty little sound. He watched Hisoka carefully as he let the music shift into something high and sweet and trilling, at the softest he could play it. The boy reacted so perfectly, moreso than anyone he'd captured before. It was pleasing to behold, and fascinating. For the first time, Mello considered the possibility of keeping a pet and a snack all in one, rather than making an actual meal of this pretty thing.

The quicker melody brought motion back into his limp limbs, though his face remained blank and impassive. With music singing in his blood, he began to strip down, quick little motions discarding items in perfect rhythm. He was nude in minutes, head back on the creature's thigh as if he'd never moved away at all. This hidden oasis radiated with such unbridled natural joy that it was only sensible to let his entire body sink into it to enjoy it properly.

He hadn't even had to say a word, his pretty little prize complying with his every wish before it was even voiced. Mello wondered if he should be suspicious, or if Hisoka was simply more sensitive to such things; there were people like that, after all, with more open minds and souls. Mello rewarded him by playing faster, like a dance, eyes sliding along the nude form curled up at his feet. It was certainly a worthwhile body, young and fresh and so willing.

Mello would reward him a little longer, let him linger in happiness for now. He liked watching the boy's reactions. He was-- The word escaped him for a minute and he mused as he played, grinning suddenly. He was so cute.
